Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rosybel Arrayago. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Rosybel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
As a little girl I was obsessed with painting everything I could, when I was growing I became obsessed with my moms makeup but she wouldn’t let me take it so I just needed to wait for her to leave and TARAN SHOW TIME!!! When I was 15, I started going to small makeup courses but my family use to tell me all the time that makeup wasn’t a career in the real life or in Venezuela. For them a real career would be Engineering, Medicine or Psychology so I really believed that for a long time.
I enrolled in Psychology, before I started the career I moved to Vancouver for few months to study English and then I was supposed to be back to my reality as a Psychologist student. That never happened. I had the most beautiful glow up when I was away. I met such a beautiful people, made best friends and got inspired by the beauty of that country. When I was there people could be whatever they wanted to be, they were free and I needed that. Being far away from my family was awful.. STILL IS. But God had a bigger plan for me that I didn’t understand at that moment. I realized that I could be whatever I wanted to be. I decided to silence the negative voices of my mind and actually start doing makeup for me and other people for free… I wanted to have the experience first so I could charge for my work later. I WAS SO HAPPY AND FULL OF PEACE. My mind completely changed to a better place, I finally realized I could be a Makeup Artist If I really wanted to. Everyday I tell myself “If you believe in it, you can create it.”
Rosybel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raise in Venezuela. I love to create and play with colors so being a Makeup Artist is a beautiful opportunity. I have moved to many places in the last few years, not because I wanted but because I needed it. All that process over and over again has made me change how I think, what I can create and what I want to be as a person and as a professional. I’ve moved slowly into the beauty industry but I am happy with it and everything that I have accomplished so far. I offer all makeup styles, my favorites are Bridal, SFX, special events and photoshoots. I treat all my costumers with love because I want them to feel I’m giving more than a service, I want them to feel that they have someone they can trust and that actually listen to them. I enjoy making them happy it doesn’t matter what It takes. I provide luxury services with high quality makeup products/brands as I want them the best experience for them and for myself. I am full of energy and always excited to help my costumers accomplish that dream look for their special event.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
If they have their own brand, BUY their products or pay for their services. You can subscribe to their online platforms (this helps a lot, just one comment with love can change the whole day of someone).
Spread the word, talk to your friends and family about artist or business you love! This motives them a lot!
Promote them on social media, comment on their content and send them to your friends. If you can, make a social media post about an artist you love, this will make them so happy and grateful.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearned that “being beautiful depends on the way you look” Beauty is more than how you look in the outside. Beauty is also in the inside, the quality of the person you are, how you feel about other people and how you feel about yourself. I consider a beautiful person to someone who can listen without judging, help others without receiving anything back, give love and received love. Beauty is spreading love to everyone, taking care of yourself and others. Learning that the more you love yourself the more love you can spread. If your thoughts are negatives and full of insecurities you will reflect that on the outside. But if you are full of love, good energy and positive thoughts you will also reflect that. Beauty is in the outside and inside.
