Hi Natalia, thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?

If I could go back in time, I honestly wish I had started my business sooner. When I first moved to the United States, I was starting over in a new country and trying to build a future for myself. I began doing eyelash extensions from my bedroom, serving clients one at a time and learning as I went. At that point in my life, I didn’t have a large network, a business plan, or the confidence I have today—I simply had a passion for beauty and a strong desire to create opportunities for myself.

Looking back, starting sooner would have allowed me to gain experience, build my clientele, and develop my skills earlier. However, I also recognize that every stage of my journey taught me valuable lessons. The challenges of adapting to a new country, understanding the market, and balancing work and personal responsibilities helped shape the entrepreneur I am today.

While there are moments when I wish I had taken the leap earlier, I believe I started at the right time for who I was then. Those early days working from my bedroom laid the foundation for what would eventually become Amethyst Lash Studio. The experience taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of believing in myself even when resources were limited.

Today, I’m grateful for the journey because it reminds me that successful businesses don’t always start with a storefront or a large investment—sometimes they start with a dream, a skill, and a small space in your home.

My name is Natalia Rengifo, and I am the founder and lash artist behind Amethyst Lash Studio. My journey into the beauty industry began shortly after I moved to the United States. Like many immigrants, I was building a new life from scratch and searching for a career that would allow me to combine creativity, entrepreneurship, and the opportunity to help others feel confident.

I started doing eyelash extensions from my bedroom, working hard to perfect my craft while building a loyal clientele one client at a time. What began as a small side business quickly grew into a true passion. Over the years, I invested heavily in education, advanced training, and mastering the latest techniques and trends in the lash industry. Like many entrepreneurs, I was used to saying yes to every opportunity and working long hours. Once I became a mom, I realized that I needed to build a business that could continue to grow while also allowing me to be present for my family. That meant becoming more intentional with my schedule, setting boundaries, and focusing on quality over quantity.

At the same time, I was continuing to grow Amethyst Lash Studio and establish myself in a highly competitive industry. I invested in advanced education, introduced new lash techniques, improved my client experience, and focused on building a strong brand rather than simply filling my calendar. This shift allowed me to attract clients who valued quality, artistry, and professionalism.

Looking back, that pivot taught me that success isn’t just about working harder—it’s about working smarter and aligning your business with the life you want to create. Becoming a mother made me a better entrepreneur because it forced me to prioritize, adapt, and focus on what truly matters.
