Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Devin Acar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Devin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
From a young age, Trinity ( co-founder) and I grew up in environments where mentoring and tutoring were standard practices. Teaching became a natural extension of our daily routines. In school, teachers selected us to tutor peers in our strongest subjects. Helping classmates after school exposed a systemic issue: quality academic support was a luxury, remaining expensive and inaccessible for lower-income families.
The pandemic widened this educational divide. Academic disruption disproportionately affected students from under-resourced backgrounds, while commercial tutoring costs priced out families facing economic hardship. High-quality academic intervention remained trapped behind a paywall, compounding the wealth gap through educational disparity. A problem was that there was no scalable, student-led platform to bridge this divide by connecting motivated learners with high-quality tutors for free.
We founded Educ8tors to eliminate these economic barriers to academic success.
Our operations began locally, managing a small group of students via spreadsheets and group chats. As demand grew, the initiative expanded. Educ8tors developed into a national edtech platform, connecting a total of 515 students with over 100 tutors across 24 subjects, including advanced math and SAT preparation. This infrastructure supported a digital community that generated over 80,000 media impressions and attracted 1,000 followers.
We aspire to expand and help more people, providing free academic resources and tutoring for all. Everyone deserves an education, therefore, Educ8tors.

Devin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are the co-founders of Educ8tors, a student-led educational technology platform designed to bridge the educational divide caused by economic disparities.
Educ8tors delivers targeted tutoring across 24 distinct subjects, spanning from elementary ELA & mathematics to SAT prep (grades k-12). We solve a critical economic problem for families by removing the financial barriers to elite academic intervention, directly addressing systemic wealth gaps that manifest in educational achievement. We aim to eliminate the issue of inaccessible education.
Our peer-to-peer operational model sets the organization apart. Educ8tors functions entirely on a “for students, by students” framework. Our instructional methodology rejects passive memorization in favor of metacognition and cognitive development. Tutors cultivate intellectual curiosity, training students to analyze how they think so they can retain and apply knowledge across future academic pursuits. Furthermore, our curriculum embraces constructive failure. Instructors guide students through extensive problem-solving sequences, utilizing mistakes to diagnose precise knowledge gaps and systematically address them. This approach replaces anxiety with measurable academic confidence.
We are proudest of the global network we built. Educ8tors assembled a dedicated collective of student tutors who deliver high-quality instruction to peers from diverse backgrounds worldwide. For potential followers and families, Educ8tors represents more than a volunteer service. It is a structured platform created to equate academic resources and foster long-term economic mobility through educational equity.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Managing rapid institutional growth with minimal operational infrastructure tested our organizational resilience. During the expansion of Educ8tors, we balanced our own academic schedules while manually managing every part of the org, including tutor matching, scheduling, marketing, and cross-regional operations.
When student intake requests surged exponentially, our manual systems faced severe strain. The administrative burden nearly forced us to restrict platform registration to prevent operational failure. Instead of reducing our reach, we systematically re-engineered our internal infrastructure. We automated onboarding protocols, streamlined data collection, and optimized our matching workflows under significant pressure.
This operational situation proved that resilience requires structural adaptability. By refining our systems to meet high demand, we maintained our commitment to educational access. The ultimate validation of this effort comes from observing students gain academic confidence and witnessing families access elite resources that were previously financially prohibitive.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Audience growth for Educ8tors resulted from strategic content alignment and operational consistency. Initial outreach efforts yielded minimal traction when focusing strictly on standard administrative posts. To accelerate student and tutor acquisition, we shifted our social media strategy to produce engaging, relatable content tailored directly to student experiences.
This content pivot served as a funnel. We emphasized transparency, openly presenting ourselves as students directly addressing an educational crisis we experienced firsthand. By showcasing the authentic journey of building an edtech startup, the platform captured broader visibility, converting views into verified tutor and student applications. As a result we have over 80,000 impressions on social media with over a thousand followers.
For emerging organizations building a digital footprint, the primary objective must be mission consistency over immediate virality. Audience accumulation is an incremental process. Sustained visibility and transparent communication are the core components required to build institutional trust and validate an organizational mission within a digital community.
