We recently connected with Jaida Henley and have shared our conversation below.
Jaida, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Honestly I am so in love with working for myself. I have worked in corporate and I have spent time working for myself as well. The benefits from working a full-time job is a major thing you miss when you decide to work for yourself. You are also giving away the consistent income from your set rate. It can be challenging. I have not worked a full time job since 2024. That sounds insane considering it is almost 2027. I have had challenges after challenges, but I love the fact that I wake up everyday and get to choose what I do. I can start my day as early or as late as I choose. It’s kind of fun learning how to be your own boss too. I am hoping to place better systems and structures for myself so I can scale and have employees eventually.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Jaida Henley. I am 23 years old and I do everything my heart desires. I refuse to fit in a box. I am a singer, songwriter, actress, live-streamer, travel agent, author, and photographer. I love that I am so versatile. I never want to feel too good to learn and I never want to limit myself to the possibilities meant for me in life. I grew up in the suburbs in Georgia. A small town! Now I have lived in Los Angeles for the past 3 and a half years. Wow. I can’t believe I have been out here so long already. At the moment, my focus is getting discovered and impacting more lives. I also have become top 20% in sales as a travel agent. I love travel sales because I motivate people to expand their experiences.
At the end of the day, I am a muse. I want to inspire everybody to live their best life.. Whatever that means to them.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I have actually been thinking about this topic a lot lately. I have come to a new mindset that simply saying yes and showing up can allow such a beautiful ecosystem to form. For example, my friend is passionate about doing their own short film and asked me to be a lead. I said yes and I have enjoyed watching them bring a script they literally wrote a month ago to life. When you just show up, things happen. Momentum occurs. If you don’t show up, there’s missing pieces therefore things don’t progress and thrive the same way.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I just want my family to experience the best in life. Field trips, sports, family gatherings, nice clothes, etc. We grew up in a hustle household. My mom working constantly and my father (in separate houses) doing his own thing but getting by from being frugal. I can’t stand feeling like I’m restricted from nice things even though my family has always worked just as hard as others. I want to show them the nicer things in life and have a different projectory for my kids and future generations. I have taken my niece on 2 trips before she even turned 10. First trip was to Los Angeles at 2 years old. That was my dream trip as a kid. I brought myself to LA when I was 16. Now I have convinced my family to do a family cruise in February. I can’t believe it because my great grandmother was abandoned in a ditch when she was in 3rd grade. The nicest home she had was a trailer home. On my dad’s side, my great grandfather grew up in a house with no water or windows. I am breaking poverty from my family. We will be okay if I have anything to do with it. I refuse for my kids to wonder why they don’t get to experience things even watching their parents work so hard for them. Selfishly I want to be a stay at home mom in my thirties so I need to become super successful.
