We recently connected with Brandon Ahmad and have shared our conversation below.
Brandon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Hey! I’m Brandon Ahmad. My company, The Love Yourself Network, was started to combat the negative messages being sent out through social media!
The world is changing…. And a lot of that change isn’t for the best! Social media has been slowly becoming less about being social and more about time hoarding!
People’s eyes have become the new currency and I think we should be more conscious of how we spend our time on these apps!
That’s why our company has made some big changes to how we operate! We want to entertain you, but not at the cost of your own hopes and dreams!
People spend way too much time on these apps comparing themselves to one another and “flexing” their materialistic status! This type of negativity does serious damage to your own self image and destroys community trust.
So our mission is to bring a love for self ( see what I did there ) back to the community! We still have content like music videos, scripted shows, and vlogs!
However we are taking a more ethical approach to how we operate and delivering more positive content to you!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We have been creating content for years, but we made a shift to providing content that has a positive impact on the community versus just being “entertaining”.
I started as just a singer songwriter, but thankfully I was able to build up a community of like minded individuals to create on a much larger scale! Now we host live events like our LYS Community Walk / Run ,or our residency with the Nashville Community’s own Kingdom Cafe!
With the help of our latest partner, Sheridan Randolph, we were able to get our new scripted series, Food Run, up and running! The pilot episode is currently running on YouTube and our Seed and Spark campaign is almost ready to go live so we can fund shooting the entire first season!
We love the fact that we are able to bring positive content that is actually entertaining to social media and streaming platforms! In fact, that is what we pride ourselves on! In today’s society, it seems like everyone is forgoing a sense of class and decorum when creating the “bingeable” content.
Not only do I think our approach makes us stand out, but I’d like to think it makes us one of the more original content creators out today!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson I had to learn was not conforming to world! Like most artist and creatives, I was always looking for ways to stay “relevant” on social media. Before long, the things that I did began to get further and further away from my original goal! I looked at the content I was creating, and although it was entertaining, I truly felt that I was selling a piece of my soul for likes.
Honestly, I didn’t realize how much I was molding myself to be a person that would do anything for the right engagement! Those conforming ways bled from social media into my daily life.
Thankfully, I finally came to my senses, and began to make changes that showed people the real me and things that I am interested in.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
The Love Yourself Network, started with 100% of its capitol coming from me! I thoroughly understood that if you want to control the type of media you create, you must have 100% ownership of your company.
Once we were established, live events, merch, and “project by project” crowdfunding helped supplement the amount of personal income I needed to pour into the business.
