We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christina Carraha-Ortiz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
For many years, I had wanted to start a business, but I never knew how to pick the “right” one. I had plenty of ideas, but I couldn’t clearly see the path from concept to reality. Meanwhile, music has always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, friends kept encouraging me to pursue music seriously. Like many people, I assumed a career in music was unrealistic. I eventually started songwriting, recording, producing demos, and learning how to distribute music. For the first time, I was learning more about the business side of the industry.
About two years ago, I had the idea of selling custom songs. I initially dismissed it because I assumed the market was already saturated. But last year, I started talking to friends about AI-powered custom music and most had never heard of it. I showed them songs I had created from journal entries, personal stories, and simple prompts, and their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. That’s when I decided to create JukeBot Studios. Like a traditional jukebox, you pick the song you want to hear. This time, the song is specific to you and your experience. Since it’s AI-powered, I played on the name and called it “JukeBot.”
I created JukeBot Studios to combine my passion for music with a business that felt accessible, scalable, and fulfilling. More importantly, it was the first business idea where I truly understood the product from start to finish. I knew how to write the songs, produce them, deliver them, and create an experience around them.
Before officially launching JukeBot Studios, I tested the concept with friends and family. Each time a song was delivered, the reaction was usually happy tears. One of my biggest goals in life is to spread happiness and positivity to others, and creating custom songs allows me to do exactly that.
JukeBot Studios uses AI as a creative tool, but the goal is not to generate generic music. Every song is built around a person’s memories, relationships, milestones, and emotions. While AI is rapidly changing many industries, there is a huge value in using it to strengthen human connection rather than replace it.
As JukeBot Studios grows, I envision expanding into new products and creating music for film and media. No matter how much the business evolves, the mission will remain the same: to evoke genuine emotion, inspire human connection, and spread light through music.

Christina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have always been someone with a lot of interests. I’ve explored music, sports, psychology, linguistics, investing, and finding ways to help others. Actually, committing to a single business has been difficult because this. With music specifically, I started collaborating with a couple friends of mine in the industry a few years ago. That’s when I realized I had enough skills to actually have a career in music. I should’ve known sooner since I was able to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb” by ear on my toy piano at age 4, but we don’t see things so clearly sometimes.
Anyway, I realized that JukeBot Studios would allow me to incorporate many of my interests at once. It feels like the perfect business for me. I am able to combine my passion for music with my love for psychology, foreign languages, and entertainment.
Psychology and language are so important because when I write songs, I truly think of how certain lyrics will make the customer feel. I have worked on songs particularly for those who have lost a loved one or experienced struggle, and the wording in those songs are so important to ensure the song can still feel light. I also offer songs in any language because I enjoy diversity and know I can deliver songs to each customer no matter where they are from.
I think what sets me apart from other song companies, at the core, is that I am passionate about making the songs feel right. Even though JukeBot is AI-powered, I put thought into every lyric and sound of the songs. I offer true personalization and the customer knows they have a human working with them on the other side creating their perfect song.
As the business grows, my vision is to have JukeBot Studios feel like a virtual studio online. I want customers to feel part of the process, because once the songs are complete, it feels more fulfilling than people would think. Music really helps people express what they might not be able to say and I love being part of that.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the biggest obstacles I had to tackle was my own self-doubt. Focusing on what could go wrong and comparing myself to other custom song businesses hindered me a lot. I have had people tell me the idea is stupid, or other companies are doing this and that. At the end of the day, I just had to say “who cares!” and move forward.
I am able to stay optimistic because I believe in the product and have a clear vision for what I am creating. While I don’t know much about business, I do know I have a talent for making meaningful music. I also know that if I ever want to be successful in business, I have to at least attempt business. So, here we go!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn is that I have to know everything to start and have to solve every problem. While it’s nice to map everything out ahead of time, and have a solution for every possible issue, I often let that lack of knowledge prevent me from starting in the first place. Now, I am moving forward and adapting to the problems as they arise. Even though my brain has thought of a million and one products to delve into, I am making a point to focus on one niche product and perfect it.
The backstory is really just watching the years pass without committing to a single business. With this brand, I am dedicated to the mission and passionate about what we do. By “we,” I mean me and JukeBot (until we grow at least).
Even the idea of scaling is daunting to me. That’s why I have even hesitated marketing the business. Nevertheless, here we are, doing this interview, continuing to put JukeBot out there. I know that I have a lot to learn, but I’m not pretending to be perfect. I am proud to deliver a service that I truly believe in. Making a couple people smile and shed a few happy tears makes it all worth it. That feeling is success enough for me to give it a shot and keep it going.
