Kylenn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?

One thing I’ve experienced as an entrepreneur is being misunderstood when I talk about pursuing multiple business ventures at once. Some people see the ideas and assume I’m unrealistic or chasing too many things, but they don’t always see the research, planning, and long hours behind the scenes. For example, while developing my smart bag brand, I spent months sourcing manufacturers, testing samples, negotiating pricing, and solving shipping and customs issues. What looked like ‘just an idea’ to others was actually a structured business project. That experience taught me that not everyone will understand your vision immediately, and that’s okay. I’ve learned to focus less on proving myself through words and more on letting my work, persistence, and results speak for themselves.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Kylenn Canty, professionally known as LightSkin Asian (LSA) @Lsasianmusic on IG . I’m an entrepreneur, artist, and brand builder focused on creating products and experiences that inspire confidence, ambition, and self-expression.

I first got involved in the creative industry through music. Music gave me an outlet to tell my story, connect with people, and build a community around authenticity and perseverance. As I continued growing as an artist, I realized I wanted to create more than music I wanted to build a brand and a legacy. That led me to launch LSA, a lifestyle brand that combines fashion, innovation, and creativity.

Today, my work spans multiple areas, including music, apparel, accessories, and product development. One of the projects I’m most excited about is developing innovative travel and lifestyle bags that combine premium design with practical technology. I enjoy finding ways to take everyday products and make them more functional, stylish, and meaningful for consumers.

What sets me apart is my willingness to learn every part of the process. I didn’t come from a background where everything was handed to me. I’ve spent countless hours researching manufacturers, developing prototypes, building relationships with suppliers, learning branding and marketing, and figuring things out through trial and error. Every challenge has become an opportunity to grow.

The problem I solve is helping people express themselves through products and creative work that represent ambition, confidence, and individuality. Whether it’s through music, fashion, or innovative products, my goal is to create things that motivate people to chase bigger goals and believe in themselves.

One thing I’m most proud of is my persistence. Many people have ideas, but not everyone is willing to stay committed when obstacles arise. I’ve faced setbacks, delays, and challenges, but I’ve continued moving forward and building. That determination has helped me turn concepts into real products and real opportunities.

The main thing I want people to know about me and my brand is that everything is built with purpose. LSA represents growth, resilience, creativity, and the belief that your current circumstances do not define your future. My mission is to inspire people to think bigger, work harder, and never stop pursuing the vision they have for themselves.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

One of the biggest examples of resilience in my journey has been building my brand and products from the ground up while facing constant obstacles. As an entrepreneur, I’ve had projects delayed, manufacturers back out, samples arrive incorrectly, and shipments get stuck in customs. One project in particular involved developing a new bag design that required coordinating multiple suppliers, custom materials, hardware manufacturers, and product testing. There were moments when it felt like every step forward came with a new challenge.

Instead of giving up, I treated every obstacle as a lesson. I spent countless hours researching solutions, communicating with vendors across different time zones, revising designs, and finding new partners when necessary. What kept me going was my belief in the vision and my commitment to seeing it through.

That experience taught me that success isn’t about avoiding setbacks—it’s about how you respond to them. Resilience has become one of my greatest strengths because I’ve learned to stay focused, adapt, and continue moving forward even when things don’t go according to plan.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

One significant pivot in my entrepreneurial journey happened while developing a product line for my brand. Initially, I was working with a manufacturer that I believed would be the right long-term partner. As the project progressed, communication issues, changing timelines, and production concerns began creating risks for the business.

Rather than forcing the situation and hoping it would improve, I made the difficult decision to reevaluate the entire production process. I researched alternative suppliers, rebuilt parts of the supply chain, and adjusted my strategy to prioritize quality, reliability, and long-term scalability over convenience.

While the pivot required additional time and effort, it ultimately strengthened the project and gave me a better understanding of product development, sourcing, and business operations. It reinforced an important lesson: sometimes growth requires changing direction. Being willing to pivot when the facts change has helped me make better decisions and build a stronger foundation for future success.

These experiences taught me that entrepreneurship is not about following a perfect plan—it’s about staying flexible, learning quickly, and continuing to move forward with purpose.
