We recently connected with Yvonne Elmasri and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Yvonne, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I really think Project Love Apparel overall is a meaningful project. I get emails from parents all over thanking us for sharing our messages of self love, empathy, kindness and mostly self acceptance. Social media has the power to connect people but it can also create pressure, comparison, feeling of isolation and anxiety. With Project Love Apparel you are not just wearing a T-Shirt or a Hoodie but you are sharing a message. One that I personally hope can continue to spread. Sometimes a simple phrase like “Love Is Kind” can spark reflection or remind others that they are not alone.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Thank you for being here and supporting a brand built on kindness, compassion, and connection. I guess it’s time to formally introduce myself. Creativity is my fuel, as an artist, animal lover, humanitarian, and believer that love still has the power to change the world.
Project Love Apparel was created 6 years ago during COVID to inspire conversations about kindness, empathy, human rights, self-love, and the things that bring us together rather than pull us apart.
Every design carries a message because what we wear can reflect what we stand for. I love the community me and my team have built here. The world can be harsh and sometimes it’s just nice to know you’re not alone. We are blessed to have your friendship and look forward to growing more each day.
What am I most proud of? That I haven’t quit yet! Lol… growing an apparel brand is hard work but I am proud of myself, I believe in the brand and it’s message so we keep going! At the end of the day Project Love Apparel is build on a simple belief: that love, empathy and humanity are always in style!

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media is tricky. I’m not going to lie. When I first started out I paid for fake followers and likes. Big mistake. Don’t do it! It’s much better to be real, authentic and draw in real followers and real connections. I had to work the past few years to clean up our IG so that it is 100% authentic. If I get 5 likes or 500 they are real! I would encourage any new artist or creative to do the same. I know it’s tempting but don’t give in. Staying true to your followers will benefit you much more greatly in the long run.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I have to create. Wether it is designing my logos, coming up with ideas or writing, producing, painting furniture etc… being creative keeps me sane! I have no problem working a job but being creative, expressing emotions, creates meaning in our lives. It helps us find our voice in this crazy world. Creative expression has the power to inspire, challenge, heal and bring people together. It is my core.
