Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Josie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Josie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back in time, I don’t think I would start earlier or later. Looking back, I believe things happened when they were meant to happen.
About twenty years ago, I worked on an album project that took several years to complete. During that time, I was fortunate enough to have a song reach #1 on radio. It was an exciting experience, but creatively I still felt that something was missing. I wasn’t completely satisfied with the work I had done. I was still searching for my sound and trying to understand who I was as a songwriter and musician.
Music has always been a natural part of my life. I grew up surrounded by guitars played by my brothers and uncles, while my grandfather’s piano and accordion introduced me to melodies from another era. Music wasn’t something I discovered—it was simply part of my world from the very beginning.
After my first album project, I continued working on music, but mostly behind the scenes. For years, I stayed in a low-profile creative phase, writing, learning, revisiting songs, and refining my craft. During that time, I rewrote lyrics, changed chords, explored different musical directions, and searched for the sound that truly felt like me.
Looking back, I realize that life experience became one of my greatest teachers. The years brought challenges, personal growth, loss, resilience, and perspective. Today, I have much more to say than I did twenty years ago, and I can express it with greater honesty and confidence.
At one point, I thought my future might be writing songs for other people rather than recording and releasing my own music. But conversations with musician friends and producers encouraged me to share my own voice again. They reminded me that the stories I wanted to tell were mine to tell.
There are times when I think I could have trusted myself more and moved forward sooner. But I also understand that every stage of the journey served a purpose. The years spent working quietly in the background helped me find the sound I had been searching for all along.
Today, I am working on a new album project. The songs are written, refined, and exactly where I want them to be. What remains is bringing them to life in the studio.
I don’t create music to chase attention or prove anything to anyone. Music is simply part of who I am. I create because I love it, because it feels natural, and because it allows me to connect with people in an honest way. I trust that when something is created from the heart, with sincerity and humility, it will find its way to the people who need to hear it.

Josie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a singer, guitarist, and songwriter, and my work is centered on creating music that is honest, emotional, and rooted in real life. I focus on writing, developing, and recording songs that reflect lived experience and human truth, with the intention of making music that feels timeless rather than trend-driven.
What I offer are songs and musical projects built on authenticity. I don’t approach songwriting as a formula or a product. Instead, I focus on emotion, storytelling, and connection—making sure every song carries meaning and feels real before it is considered finished.
What sets my work apart is my commitment to staying close to the truth of the music. I don’t try to fit into expectations or follow what is happening in the industry. I trust instinct, emotion, and simplicity, and I let the song lead the direction rather than forcing it into something it is not.
As I mentioned earlier, I am currently working on a new album project. The songs are written, and I am in the studio phase, bringing them to life.
What I am most proud of is the clarity I now have in my creative direction. I no longer rush the process or second-guess the intention behind my work. I let the music evolve naturally, and I stay committed to what feels honest rather than what feels expected.
What I want people to know is simple: my work is grounded in truth and emotion. I am not here to chase attention or trends. I am here to create and share music that reflects real life in a sincere, human, and lasting way.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
For me, resilience has never been about pushing at any cost or chasing visibility. It’s been more about staying grounded in my values, even when the path is uncertain.
There are moments in this industry where it can feel like everything moves quickly, and where attention can sometimes seem more important than substance. But I’ve always tried to stay close to what feels real to me as a songwriter and musician, even if it meant taking a slower or less visible path.
What has carried me through is a quiet kind of determination—choosing integrity over urgency, and staying committed to my own artistic voice rather than compromising it for the sake of attention or approval.
Over time, that choice has shaped not only my music, but also my relationship to the process itself. It taught me that staying true to yourself is its own form of strength.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I don’t really see it as a big mission or anything like that.
For me, it’s actually pretty simple. Music has always been the space where I can process life, emotions, and everything I don’t always know how to express directly. So I guess the goal is really just to keep that space alive and honest, and to keep creating from it as life evolves.
It’s not about trying to get somewhere specific. It’s more about staying connected to that place, and continuing to write and create from there.
At the end of the day, I just want to keep doing that in a way that still feels real to me.
