We were lucky to catch up with Giovanna Alvarez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Giovanna, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Rose Spa began as a dream long before it became a business.
I have always been drawn to beauty, wellness, flowers, herbs, botanicals, and the healing feeling that comes from being surrounded by nature. Roses, in particular, have always represented beauty, softness, and care to me. Over time, I realized I wanted to create a space that reflected those values a place where women could feel cared for not only physically, but emotionally as well.
As an esthetician, I saw that many women were exhausted, overwhelmed, and constantly giving their time and energy to everyone around them while rarely taking time for themselves. I wanted to create an experience that encouraged women to slow down, rest, and reconnect with themselves, even if only for a short time.
During my professional journey, I became fascinated with Korean Head Spa techniques and the way they combine scalp health, massage, water therapy, and deep relaxation into one beautiful experience. At the same time, I felt inspired by Moroccan beauty traditions, which celebrate the use of botanicals, herbal remedies, floral waters, nourishing clays, and self-care rituals that have been passed down through generations.
The idea for Rose Spa came from blending these two worlds together. I wanted to create something unique that honored both Korean Head Spa innovation and Moroccan-inspired botanical traditions. Every service incorporates elements that I personally love herbs, floral infusions, aromatherapy, roses, natural ingredients, and intentional rituals designed to help women feel relaxed and cared for.
Creating a women-only environment was also deeply important to me. As a woman, I understand how valuable it is to have a space where you can truly let your guard down, feel comfortable, and simply focus on yourself. I wanted Rose Spa to feel like a sanctuary where women could come exactly as they are and leave feeling refreshed, confident, and renewed.
What excites me most is knowing that Rose Spa is more than a business. It is the physical manifestation of something I genuinely love and believe in. Every rose, every botanical treatment, every scalp ritual, and every relaxing rinse reflects the vision I had from the beginning: creating a beautiful space where women feel seen, valued, cared for, and reminded that they deserve the same love and attention they so often give to others. 🌹

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What I am most proud of is creating a business that reflects my passions: roses, botanicals, wellness, cultural beauty traditions, and women’s care. Rose Spa is more than a spa—it is a unique fusion of Korean Head Spa innovation, Moroccan-inspired rituals, botanical wellness, and personalized care designed to help women feel restored, confident, and valued.
Rose Spa was created to blend modern Korean Head Spa techniques with Moroccan-inspired beauty and wellness traditions. My goal was to offer an experience unlike anything else in my area by combining advanced scalp and skin treatments with botanicals, aromatherapy, and intentional rituals designed to promote relaxation, restoration, and self-care.
Every Head Spa experience begins with a professional scalp analysis, allowing me to identify concerns such as buildup, congestion, dryness, sensitivity, or thinning and customize the treatment accordingly. This personalized approach ensures that each client receives care tailored to their individual needs.
One of the signature elements of Rose Spa is the Rose Waterfall Rinse. Every rinse is built upon a base of rosewater and enhanced with a customized scalp tea created from carefully selected botanicals chosen to support each client’s unique scalp needs. Depending on the client, these botanical infusions may focus on soothing, hydration, purification, or overall scalp wellness.
Throughout every service, clients experience aromatherapy through botanical mists, essential oils, and carefully selected scents designed to create a calming environment and provide a peaceful escape from everyday stress.
I also incorporate Moroccan-inspired traditions through the use of Ghassoul clay, Sidr leaf powder, floral waters, botanical scalp masks, herbal treatments, and customized facial masks. These ingredients are combined with Korean Head Spa techniques, scalp massage, water therapy, LED scalp treatments, and steam therapy to create a distinctive fusion of cultures and wellness traditions.
In addition to scalp care, I offer customized facial treatments tailored to each client’s individual skin concerns. Every service is personalized through professional analysis, ingredient selection, and treatment planning to help clients achieve healthier-looking skin while enjoying a deeply relaxing experience.
Perhaps the most important aspect of Rose Spa is that it is a women-only space. As a woman, I understand the importance of having an environment where you can fully relax, feel comfortable, and focus on yourself without distractions. My goal is to provide a sanctuary where women can rest, recharge, and feel genuinely cared for.
From the initial consultation and scalp analysis to the final blow dry and styling finish, every detail of the experience is performed with intention and care. My mission is to create a space where women feel seen, welcomed, and supported while nurturing both beauty and well-being.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that illustrates my resilience is the journey of building Rose Spa from the ground up during one of the most uncertain periods of my life.
Like many small business owners, I faced moments when giving up would have been easier. Starting a business required significant personal sacrifice, financial risk, and countless hours of work behind the scenes. There were times when client bookings were slow, expenses continued to grow, and the future felt uncertain. As a solo business owner, every challenge ultimately rested on my shoulders.
Despite those obstacles, I remained committed to my vision. I continued investing in my education, refining my services, improving the client experience, and finding creative ways to reach new customers. Instead of allowing setbacks to discourage me, I viewed them as opportunities to learn, adapt, and improve.
One of the most difficult lessons I learned was that building a business rarely happens as quickly as we imagine. Growth often comes through consistency rather than overnight success. During slower periods, I focused on strengthening my brand, creating educational content, networking within my community, and developing new services that reflected my long-term vision for Rose Spa.
What kept me moving forward was the belief that the work I was doing mattered. Every time a client told me they felt relaxed, cared for, or more confident after a service, I was reminded why I started. Those moments reinforced my commitment to creating a space where women could prioritize their well-being and experience intentional care.
The journey has taught me resilience, patience, and perseverance. It has shown me that success is not defined by avoiding challenges but by continuing to move forward despite them. Building Rose Spa has required faith, determination, and a willingness to keep going even when the outcome was uncertain, and I believe those experiences have made me both a stronger entrepreneur and a stronger person.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media has been a journey of consistency, authenticity, and patience.
When I started Rose Spa, I didn’t have a large following or a marketing team behind me. I began by sharing my passion for skincare, scalp health, wellness, and the unique services I was creating. Rather than focusing solely on selling, I focused on educating people about Korean Head Spa treatments, scalp care, botanical ingredients, and the importance of self-care.
Over time, I learned that people connect with authenticity. Some of my most successful content has been behind-the-scenes videos, treatment demonstrations, educational posts, and sharing the story behind Rose Spa. By showing my work, my personality, and my passion for what I do, I was able to build trust with potential clients before they ever walked through my door.
Consistency has been one of the biggest factors in my growth. Even during slower periods, I continued creating content, posting regularly, engaging with comments and messages, and looking for new ways to connect with my audience. Not every post performed well, but each one helped increase visibility and awareness of my brand.
My advice for anyone just starting on social media is to focus on providing value rather than chasing viral moments. Share your knowledge, tell your story, showcase your work, and be consistent. Growth rarely happens overnight, but trust and credibility are built one post at a time.
Most importantly, don’t be afraid to be yourself. People often connect with the person behind the business just as much as the business itself. Authenticity, consistency, and a genuine passion for what you do can be far more powerful than any marketing strategy.
