We were lucky to catch up with Hermes Makeup recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hermes thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I always knew I wanted to follow my passion of becoming a cosmetologist and helping people feel beautiful and confident. Moving to Miami felt like a fresh start—a chance to reinvent myself and pursue the dreams I had always carried with me.
Starting over in a new city wasn’t easy. I didn’t know anyone, and there were times when the loneliness felt overwhelming. In many ways, it felt like I was building my life from scratch. But that experience pushed me even deeper into my craft.
My art became my therapy. It gave me purpose, comfort, and a way to express myself during a time of uncertainty. What started as an escape became the foundation of my career. Miami challenged me, but it also helped me discover my resilience, strengthen my passion, and become the person and cosmetologist I had always aspired to be.
Today, I look back on that leap of faith as one of the most defining moments of my journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My philosophy as a cosmetologist is simple: every client deserves the very best.
I use high-quality luxury products and put my full passion, attention, and expertise into every service I provide. My goal is for each client to leave my chair feeling beautiful, confident, and like the best version of themselves.
From the moment a client arrives, I strive to create the right atmosphere—one that feels welcoming, relaxing, and elevated. I carefully select the products I use, pay attention to every detail, and dedicate myself to delivering my best work every time.
For me, beauty is more than just the final result. It’s about the entire experience: making my clients feel comfortable, cared for, and confident throughout the process. When they leave feeling empowered and glowing, I know I’ve done my job.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective way I grow my clientele is through word of mouth and the quality of work I provide. I believe that when clients have an exceptional experience and love their results, they naturally share that experience with others.
Building trust is one of the most important parts of my profession. I want every client to feel comfortable, at ease, and confident when they sit in my chair. By listening to their needs, delivering consistent results, and creating a welcoming environment, I build lasting relationships that go beyond a single appointment.
My goal is for every client to leave feeling beautiful, confident, and excited to return—and to recommend my services to their friends and family because of the trust we’ve built together.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Success in this field comes from working with a variety of clients, each with their own unique look, personality, and vision. Every client is different, and each experience helps me grow both creatively and professionally.
Working with diverse hair types, styles, and personal preferences allows me to expand my skills, gain valuable experience, and continue learning new techniques. It challenges me to adapt, be creative, and deliver personalized results that fit each individual’s needs.
For me, success is not only about building a strong clientele—it’s about continuously evolving as an artist, gaining experience through every person who sits in my chair, and creating looks that make my clients feel confident, beautiful, and truly themselves.
