Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Capt’n Scum. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Capt’n , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
Haha, I remember the first gig I ever played quite well.
It was at the 60th birthday of a friend’s dad and I wasn’t ready at all, completely unprepared for playing live music and a big lack of skill. So there I was standing, all alone, surrounded by moderately amused and mildly confused strangers my parents age. I started to play my first song, which was a cover of “The Mountain” by Steve Earl as I remember, and ran on full autopilot-mode.
Later on I covered “Jackson” by June Carter and Johnny Cash and mid song I forgot all the lyrics, almost had a mental breakdown, haha, it was awful.
But thinking about this evening and that it’s only 1 and a half year ago makes me realize what huge progress I’ve made in such a short time, and everything I’ve achieved that I could only have dreamed of two years ago.
And you can too! Go chase your dream! :)

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey there!
My name is Capt’n Scum and I play Country&Western.
I’m from Frankfurt, Germany but have a big passion for old American country music like Ernest Tubb or Jimmy Rodgers.
If you want to give it a listen, I would appreciate it a lot if you’d visit me on Instagram and leave your opinion :)
Besides that, a lot of song will be released the next weeks, so stay tuned if you’re interested!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The next goal is to make a living entirely from music, with gigs, guitar lessons and repairing guitars.
That would be a dream!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The best thing is to get positive feed back for your work from musicians that you look up to + open up a show for an artist that you used to buy tickets for.
And the most obvious one… free drinks :D
