Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danielle Williams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Danielle , appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I started my calligraphy journey as a creative outlet during the pandemic. I have never been a crafty/creative person, I always assumed that “creative” side of my brain didn’t exist. I had no idea I needed this outlet in my life, as about a year after starting calligraphy my mom was diagnosed with dementia.
I wish I would have started earlier so that my parents & grandparents could have shared this journey with me.

Danielle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started calligraphy during the pandemic as a creative outlet, I’ve always loved writing so calligraphy just spoke to my heart. I never considered myself the crafty/creative type but what started as a hobby has turned into a growing business.
I help brides, brands and event planners create unforgettable personalized experiences—one name, gift, and keepsake at a time.
One of the things I want potential clients to know is that calligraphy is so much more “just pretty handwriting.” In reality, it’s a skilled art form that requires years of practice, knowledge of materials, design and layout skills, etc. Another misconception is that calligraphy is only for weddings, but today calligraphy/personalization is heavily used in luxury retail, experiential marketing, corporate gifting, brand activations, and influencer experiences.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As mentioned, I started learning calligraphy during the pandemic but after about 2 years and much, much practice I was feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. I went down a rabbit hole, trying all kinds of new mediums and skills, I was literally all over the place. So I took a little break from calligraphy, I barely picked up my pen for almost a year. stepped back and refocused, I found my niche and started focusing on growing my business.
I now knew what I wanted to do and what direction I needed to go. So I invested in business coaching and honed my skills, which allowed me to fight through my imposter syndrome and gain the confidence I needed.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’m working toward the goal of have a leaving corporate America and running my calligraphy business full time. I’m ready to be my own boss, set my own schedule and work on my own terms
