We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chelsea Catlin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chelsea below.
Hi Chelsea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
For most of my life, my focus was simply making it through the next medical challenge. Living with lupus since childhood and later receiving a kidney transplant taught me resilience, but it also taught me how easy it is to put your dreams on hold. One of the biggest risks I’ve taken recently wasn’t starting a business— it was allowing myself to believe that I could pursue goals beyond survival. From returning to the gym and rebuilding my strength to sharing my health journey publicly and pursuing long-term goals like law school, I’ve learned that growth often begins when you’re willing to be seen and take a chance on yourself.

Chelsea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Chelsea Catlin, and I wear several hats. Professionally, I work as a Legal Assistant in Tennessee, where I support administrative judges and help navigate legal processes that impact families and individuals across the state. Outside of my career, I am a lupus warrior, kidney transplant recipient, fitness enthusiast, and aspiring content creator who is passionate about sharing my journey and encouraging others to keep moving forward despite life’s challenges.
My story is not one that began in business or content creation—it began with resilience. I was diagnosed with lupus at a young age and have spent much of my life learning how to navigate chronic illness while pursuing my goals. In 2016, I received a life-saving kidney transplant, a milestone that completely changed my perspective on life. Since then, I have remained committed to making the most of every opportunity I am given.
Several years ago, I launched a beauty business called MinkedbyKitty, where I sold lashes and explored entrepreneurship. While that chapter has since closed, it taught me valuable lessons about business ownership, branding, customer relationships, and believing in myself. Today, my focus has evolved. I am passionate about creating content centered around health, wellness, fitness, personal growth, and life after transplant.
What I hope to provide through my work and content is honesty. Social media often highlights polished outcomes, but I want people to see the reality behind the journey. Living with lupus, undergoing a transplant, managing multiple joint replacements, and still finding ways to prioritize my health and fitness has required perseverance, adaptability, and faith. I want others facing similar challenges to know that their circumstances do not have to define or limit their future.
What sets me apart is my willingness to share both the victories and the setbacks. I am not approaching wellness from a place of perfection; I am approaching it from lived experience. Whether I’m documenting my fitness journey, discussing life after transplant, sharing lessons from the legal field, or talking about future goals such as attending law school, my goal is to inspire people to keep showing up for themselves.
The accomplishment I am most proud of is not any single title, business, or achievement. It is the fact that I have continued to move forward through adversity while remaining hopeful about what is possible. I want potential followers, readers, and supporters to know that my brand is rooted in resilience, authenticity, and growth. My journey is proof that even when life takes unexpected turns, you can continue building a meaningful future one step at a time.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that best illustrates my resilience is my journey from simply surviving to actively rebuilding my life.
I was diagnosed with lupus at a young age, and for years I faced challenges that many people my age never had to think about. The disease eventually affected my kidneys, and in 2016 I received a life-saving kidney transplant. While receiving a transplant was a blessing, it wasn’t the finish line people often imagine it to be. Recovery is ongoing, and learning to manage a chronic illness while building a career, pursuing goals, and maintaining a positive outlook requires constant adaptation.
Over the years, I have also undergone multiple joint replacements due to complications related to my health. There were times when fitness, personal goals, and even simple daily activities felt overwhelming. It would have been easy to accept limitations and stop pushing myself toward new goals.
Instead, I made the decision to keep moving forward. I built a career in the legal field, explored entrepreneurship through my beauty business, and more recently recommitted myself to health and fitness. Today, I share parts of my journey in hopes of encouraging others who may be facing their own obstacles. I’m not chasing perfection; I’m focused on progress.
What resilience has taught me is that strength is not about never facing setbacks. It’s about continuing to show up for yourself, even when the path looks different than you originally imagined. Every challenge I’ve faced has reinforced my belief that our circumstances do not have to determine our future. We can acknowledge our struggles while still pursuing our dreams.
That mindset continues to guide me today as I work toward future goals, including content creation, personal growth, and eventually attending law school.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to unlearn is the belief that my worth is tied to how much I can accomplish.
For a long time, I felt like I constantly needed to prove myself. Living with lupus from a young age and later undergoing a kidney transplant often made me feel like I had to work twice as hard to show that I was capable. I pushed myself academically, professionally, and personally because I never wanted to be defined by my health challenges.
While that mindset helped me achieve a lot, it also taught me to measure my value by my productivity. If I wasn’t checking boxes, reaching goals, or accomplishing something tangible, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough.
Over time, I realized that mindset wasn’t sustainable. Chronic illness has a way of reminding you that your body has limits, and there are seasons when rest is just as important as action. I had to learn that taking care of myself wasn’t a weakness—it was a necessity.
Today, I still have ambitious goals. I work in the legal field, aspire to attend law school, prioritize my fitness journey, and continue exploring content creation. The difference is that I no longer believe I have to earn my worth through constant achievement. I’ve learned that who I am is more important than what I accomplish.
That shift has allowed me to give myself more grace, celebrate progress over perfection, and approach both life and work from a healthier perspective. It’s a lesson I’m still practicing, but it has been one of the most valuable changes in my personal growth journey.
