Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samiayah Britton-Sorrell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Samiayah, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
One of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken was walking away from a stable, well-paying career to build what is now Magical Vibe Parties, LLC (MVP).
For most of my adult life, I built a career in management and human resources. I spent over 20 years doing what many people would consider the “safe” thing. I had a paycheck. Benefits. Stability. A clear path. I knew exactly what my income would be every month, and I had worked hard to earn that security.
But there was something pulling at me.
I looked around Greenville and saw what was missing. I saw families driving hours away just to find quality entertainment for their children. I saw a lack of safe, clean, engaging places where kids could play, celebrate milestones, and simply be kids. I saw a community need that wasn’t being met.
At the same time, I had a dream that wouldn’t leave me alone.
The risk wasn’t just opening a business. The risk was everything that came with it.
I left the certainty of a full-time career.
I invested my own money into a vision that existed only in my head and on paper.
I took on monthly expenses with no guarantee of revenue.
I renovated a building that had been sitting empty for nearly twenty years.
I hired employees.
I signed leases, purchased equipment, ordered inventory, built play spaces, created programs, and committed to serving a community before I knew if the community would fully support the business.
There were moments when it was terrifying.
There were days when the bills came faster than the customers.
There were nights when I questioned whether I had made the biggest financial mistake of my life.
I went from knowing exactly what my paycheck would be every two weeks to not paying myself at all while making sure employees, vendors, and business obligations were covered first.
That’s the part people don’t always see when they look at a business owner. They see the ribbon cuttings, the photos, and the finished product. They don’t always see the sleepless nights, the sacrifices, the uncertainty, and the fear that comes with betting on yourself.
But my “why” was bigger than my fear.
I wasn’t building MVP just to make money.
I was building something for the children and families of Greenville.
I was creating jobs.
I was creating opportunities.
I was creating a place where kids could laugh, celebrate birthdays, learn, play, and make memories.
Today, when I walk into MVP and hear children laughing in the playground, see families celebrating together, watch students learning in programs we’ve created, or hear a parent say, “Thank you for bringing this to Greenville,” I know the risk was worth taking.
Has it been easy? Not at all.
Has it been profitable overnight? No.
Would I do it again? Absolutely.
Because sometimes the biggest risk isn’t failing.
Sometimes the biggest risk is spending your life wondering what would have happened if you had been brave enough to try.
And when I look at MVP today, I don’t just see a business.
I see proof that faith, vision, hard work, and courage can turn an empty building into a place filled with joy, possibility, and community.
That’s the risk I took.
And it’s still the greatest investment I’ve ever made.

Samiayah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Samiayah Britton-Sorrell, and I am the founder and owner of Magical Vibe Parties (MVP), Greenville, Mississippi’s first indoor playground and family entertainment center. I am a wife, mother, entrepreneur, community advocate, and someone who believes deeply in creating opportunities and experiences that bring families together.
Before becoming a business owner, I spent more than 20 years building a career in management and human resources. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Rust College and a Master’s degree in Human Relations. Throughout my career, I worked in leadership roles, helping organizations grow, develop employees, and create positive workplace cultures. While I enjoyed my professional career, I always knew I wanted to build something of my own that would make a lasting impact in my community.
That vision eventually became Magical Vibe Parties.
The inspiration came from recognizing a need in Greenville and the surrounding Delta region. Families often had to travel long distances to find quality indoor entertainment options for their children. I saw an opportunity to create a safe, fun, and welcoming space where children could play, celebrate, learn, and make memories while giving parents a place they could trust and enjoy as well.
Today, MVP is much more than an indoor playground. We offer open play, birthday parties, private events, field trips, educational programs, after-school activities, seasonal camps, community events, and family-centered experiences. We also operate a café and continue expanding our services to meet the needs of local families. Our goal is to create a destination where children can be active, imaginative, social, and engaged while parents feel supported and connected.
What sets MVP apart is that we are purpose-driven. We are not simply providing entertainment; we are creating experiences and opportunities. Everything we do is centered around family, community, and childhood development. We intentionally create an environment where children from all backgrounds can feel welcomed, included, and celebrated.
One of the things I am most proud of is transforming a building that had been vacant for nearly twenty years into a thriving family destination. What was once an empty structure is now filled with laughter, birthday celebrations, educational activities, and community gatherings. Watching children experience joy in a space that was created specifically for them is incredibly rewarding.
I am also proud of taking a leap of faith and investing in my dream. Leaving the security of a stable career to pursue entrepreneurship was one of the biggest risks of my life. Like many small business owners, there have been challenges, sacrifices, and moments of uncertainty. However, every obstacle has reinforced my belief that our community deserves access to quality family entertainment and educational opportunities.
The biggest thing I want people to know about me and my brand is that MVP was built with heart. This business was not created solely to generate revenue. It was created to make a difference. Every event, program, and experience is designed with the goal of bringing joy to children, supporting families, and creating positive memories that last a lifetime.
When people visit MVP, I want them to know they are supporting a business that genuinely cares about its community. We believe every child deserves a place to play, explore, celebrate, and feel special. We believe families deserve quality experiences close to home. And we believe small businesses have the power to transform communities.
At MVP, our mission is simple: create magical experiences, inspire meaningful connections, and provide a place where kids can play, parties can pop, and families can connect. That mission continues to guide everything we do, and we are excited about the impact we will continue to make for years to come.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
If there is one word that has defined my journey, it is resilience.
My story of resilience actually began long before I became an entrepreneur. Throughout my life, I have faced a series of challenges that could have easily caused me to give up on my dreams. In 2005, I survived a near-fatal car accident. Then came additional accidents in 2006 and 2009. In 2012, I achieved the dream of purchasing my first home, only to lose it less than a year later when a devastating tornado destroyed it in 2013.
Years later, after relocating back to Mississippi in 2021, life delivered more unexpected challenges. I contracted COVID-19 and experienced the heartbreaking loss of a miscarriage. Like many people, I found myself navigating grief, uncertainty, and the difficult process of rebuilding emotionally and mentally.
Each of those experiences taught me an important lesson: life does not always go according to plan, but your ability to keep moving forward determines what happens next.
That lesson became especially important when I decided to open Magical Vibe Parties (MVP).
Leaving behind a stable career after more than twenty years in management and human resources was one of the biggest leaps of faith I have ever taken. I purchased and renovated a building that had sat vacant for nearly twenty years. There were countless unexpected expenses, delays, challenges, and moments where the weight of entrepreneurship felt overwhelming.
What many people don’t see is that entrepreneurship often requires you to believe in your vision long before there is evidence that it will succeed. There were days when I questioned whether I had taken on too much. There were nights spent worrying about finances, construction timelines, staffing, and whether the community would embrace what I was building.
But every time I faced a setback, I reminded myself why I started.
I wasn’t building MVP just for myself. I was building it for the children who needed a safe place to play. I was building it for families who deserved quality entertainment close to home. I was building it for a community that had long been overlooked when it came to family-centered experiences.
Today, when I walk into MVP and hear children laughing, celebrating birthdays, learning, and making memories, I am reminded that resilience is not about avoiding hardship. It’s about continuing forward despite it.
Resilience has taught me that setbacks are not stop signs; they are detours. It has taught me that disappointment does not mean defeat. Most importantly, it has taught me that some of life’s greatest blessings are waiting on the other side of the moments that test us the most.
Every challenge I have faced—from personal loss to professional uncertainty—has strengthened my faith, sharpened my purpose, and prepared me for the work I am doing today. And if my journey proves anything, it’s that resilience isn’t about never falling down. It’s about finding the courage to get back up every single time.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned about managing a team is that people don’t work hard simply because they’re paid to—they work hard because they feel valued, respected, and connected to a purpose.
Throughout my career, I have spent more than twenty years in management and human resources, and one thing has remained true regardless of the industry: people want to know that what they do matters.
My approach to maintaining high morale starts with communication. Employees should never have to guess where they stand, what is expected of them, or whether their contributions are appreciated. I believe in providing clear expectations, consistent feedback, and regular recognition. Sometimes a simple “thank you” or acknowledging a job well done can have a greater impact than people realize.
I also believe that leaders should lead by example. Team members are more likely to stay motivated when they see their leaders willing to roll up their sleeves and do the work alongside them. Respect is earned through actions, not titles. When employees see that leadership is invested in the success of the organization and the well-being of the team, trust naturally follows.
Another key to maintaining morale is creating a positive workplace culture. People spend a significant portion of their lives at work. The environment should be one where employees feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to grow. I strive to create a culture where team members know their ideas are welcome, their voices are heard, and their contributions are valued.
I also encourage leaders to remember that every employee is different. Some are motivated by recognition, some by opportunities for growth, some by flexibility, and others by financial incentives. Taking the time to understand what motivates each individual can make a tremendous difference in engagement and performance.
At Magical Vibe Parties, our mission goes beyond providing entertainment. We create experiences, memories, and moments of joy for children and families. I make it a priority to ensure that our team understands the impact they have on every guest who walks through our doors. When employees understand the “why” behind their work, they become more invested in the outcome.
Most importantly, I believe morale is built through consistency. It’s easy to motivate a team during good times. The true test of leadership is maintaining positivity, transparency, and encouragement during challenging times. Employees watch how leaders respond to obstacles. Staying calm, solution-focused, and optimistic helps create confidence and stability throughout the organization.
If I could offer one piece of advice to any leader, it would be this: Treat your employees the way you want your customers to be treated. When people feel respected, appreciated, and empowered, they are more likely to give their best effort, support one another, and contribute to a thriving workplace culture.
Great teams are not built by accident. They are built through trust, communication, appreciation, and a shared commitment to a common goal.
