We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shaila Paredes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shaila below.
Alright, Shaila thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We believe kindness is contagious and so we’d love for you to share with us and our audience about the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
One of the kindest things anyone has done for me at work happened early on when I had just opened my business and was still building a clientele. I was going through a period where things were financially tight, but I was working hard to get established. A client invited me to a special event in Las Vegas for women entrepreneurs and generously offered to cover everything except my flight. I was really excited to attend and while I was sharing the story with another client who was in my chair, she surprised me by paying for my flight so I could go without any stress.
I remember that moment so clearly because it was such an unexpected act of kindness. It really stayed with me and made me feel incredibly grateful for the support I received from my clients in those early days.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My name is Shaila Paredes. I started my career in 2004 after graduating from Newberry School of Beauty. Early on I had the opportunity to train under Eugenia Weston, owner of Senna Cosmetics. My experience there gave me a strong foundation in both technique and artisty. I then had the opportunity to work for MAC Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Kelley Baker Brows before opening my own studio, Brows by Shaila in 2013.
I specialize in creating natural looking brows that enhance each client’s features.
I am most proud of the long term relationships I have built with my clients. A lot of them have been seeing me for years.
I think what sets me apart is that I am very intentional about creating a comfortable, consistent environment where clients feel relaxed and leave feeling confident.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty through newsletters that I create. I try to write them in a way that feels personal and conversational. I want clients to feel like I am speaking to them directly. In addition to business updates, I also try to share personal experiences so clients can get to know me beyond my work. I have found that this helps build a stronger connection and makes the relationship feel more genuine.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would say the most effective strategy for growing a clientele is giving each client your full attention and 100% of your effort every time they’re in your chair. I focus on making sure each client feels relaxed, comfortable, and confident in the experience, as well as happy with the results.
