We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rhonda German a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rhonda, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It starts with knowing what being successful means and being committed to the process. Being successful takes hard work and dedication. You need to be realistic and understand when it may be time to reset if things are not going the way you planned. It’s also important to celebrate your small victories instead of trying to focus on the big picture at one time. Sometimes we try to take giant leaps instead of taking small steps.
Rhonda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Rhonda Brown, owner of 427 Real Estate Group, brokered by Normand Real Estate and I am a mother to Makayla, 20 and CJ, 6. I am a full-time real estate agent licensed in Georgia and Alabama. I previously worked in corporate america for 16 years before going into real estate full time. I have been a realtor for 3 years and have successfully closed over 50 transactions. I also own an online boutique, Blush 427, I pretty much stumbled into the real estate industry based on a challenge and never really planned to do it full-time. I just wanted to work my regular job and sell a few homes on the side during the year but it took off much faster than i anticipated and i made the decision to leave corporate at the end of 2020. I was so scared to do it because ive always had a guaranteed check the 15th and last day of the month but God has kept me and i have not looked back. I am in my second year as a full-time agent. I provide not only the necessary skills to help you sell or purchase a home but I pride myself in providing homebuyer/seller education and that is what i feel helps set me apart. Its not just about selling a home and getting a check for me. I know that many are simply uninformed about purchasing a home and what it means so I wanted to be the one that would educate and help my peers become homeowners. I regularly host events for new homebuyers and manage a group on Facebook called “Kiss Your Landlord Goodbye- Home Buying Tips” and i run a community group on Facebook called “What’s Happening in Columbus, Ga”. I also recently hosted my 2nd Annual Back to School Supply Giveaway where over 100 kids were provided with supplies. When it comes to my clients, I want what’s best for them and I’m not afraid to tell my client to walk away from something that does not fit their needs. ‘
I started my boutique because I felt that there was a hole in the market for workwear. I strive to provide classy, sophisticated, and chic attire for you 9-5, church, speaking engagements, etc. My late friend, Kimberly Hardrick, helped me come up with the name of my business. She suggested Blush and since I love my birthday with is April 27, Blush 427 was born. I believe when you look good, you feel good and when you feel good you produce greatness.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being dependable, willing to educate and being trustworthy. I build trust with my audience by being transparent about how real estate works. Sometimes people are afraid to tell the good, bad and the ugly.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I’ve built most of clientele on social media, facebook specifically, just by being myself. I give tips, educate, share engaging posts to spark conversation and share stories about my children…my son, he’s hilarious and he’s a facebook celebrity, everybody loves him.
