We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Matthew Haddix. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Matthew below.
Matthew , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I was living in Herriman, Utah. I went to a vendor market around my area and was a little nervous selling some of my products. This was the beginning of my leathercraft journey as well as my cosmetic journey and I was hoping that it was good enough to sell to paying customers. During the market, I sold so much product that it came across my mind that I can actually do this full-time and make an impact.

Matthew , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Matthew Haddix and I am a crafter, creator , and owner of Matthew Haddix Premium Handmade Goods. I was born in Philadelphia, PA and had the opportunity to live in multiple places and experience different events, markets, and atmospheres in my life. I got into the industry when I moved to Houston , Texas ; a very diverse and creative city and realized that no matter where I went, it was very difficult to find grooming products for men as well as leather products made here in the USA. The products I make are Beard Balms, Beard oils, Body butters, Body oils, and other products in skincare like, chapsticks, future body spray, perfume, and cologne. We also make leather goods as well. One of the main problems I have found and had difficulty through the years are Brand awareness and marketing methods . Gaining trust as well as spreading the details about your business is very difficult when you are starting from the bottom. Trust is the hard part. The problems that we solve at the company are dry cracked skin, eczema, dry hair, cracked and dry lips , as well as brittle hair. I think what sets us apart is the attention to details. We consistently work to improve our products until it is perfect so if some products are to thick or to thin, we go back to the drawing board and work on perfecting minor details that may be an issue. Also with our leather crafting, we try to aim to provide the finest materials which include exotic animals. We are most proud of developing a loyal fan base of customers that order from us repeatedly and spread the reputation we create. We have been tagged on social media as well as been shout out by various customers about how wonderful our products are and how we show the process of them being made. We would love our customers to know that we genuinely care about them and we strive to provide them with the best products on the market. We work very hard to create our products with the best ingredients as well as the best materials and if their are any questions, our doors are always open for feedback as well as concerns about the company

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal I want to achieve is to create a hub location that will have our wonderful products as well as machinery to make them available in multiple states. I feel that natural skincare is not available in a scale that will allow small towns as well as big cities to be able to receive them in person rather than only shipping. I also feel that the leather companies are not providing the most premium materials for customers and if they state they are, it is only a small amount for a very high price.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I would say that in my experience , engaging with your audience is very important. A lot of people are shy to show their face but without it, customers do not know or trust who they are purchasing from. Creating reels, recording videos, and showing your creative process is key. Customers love to see what they are purchasing and how it is made.
