We recently connected with Christina Fuentes and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I remember doing a scripted skit with a small group of girls that we filmed in high school, I believe for social studies class. We did a comedic style news report of some historical event. The video was in a sense, a hit, in that it was shown in several classrooms, other than our class. There was a lot of positive feedback and I had a few teachers tell me that I may have a future in television. It was at that moment I thought to myself, do I? I didn’t take that sentiment too seriously but I really enjoyed the process of the project from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone’s reactions – laughter and thought to myself I would love to continue to make people laugh. Maybe when I’m a little bit older, I can pursue it as a career because at the time I think I was about 15 years old, which is when I started to get into modeling.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Since moving down to Georgia in the summer of 2015 life has taken many twists and turns. I came here from a small town in upstate New York to pursue film. Since then, I have done quite a bit of work in front of/ behind the camera and in other avenues. During the start of Covid, I decided to take a break from the industry however in the fall of last year, have started to re-enter and have been working on various projects. The last couple of years I have also been working very hard on my first book which is a self-help memoir. I decided to go back through and restructure/rewrite a lot of things so my launch timeline has been pushed back slightly – more updates on that to follow. Mental health has become a passion of mine and wanting to help others through their healing journeys which is what inspired this book. In addition, I have been working simultaneously on launching a lifestyle brand. I can share more details on that soon. In recent years I’ve been very fortunate to do a lot of traveling all over the world and like to bring inspiration from my travels into my work as well.
I believe what sets me apart is my authenticity. While I have grown and evolved along my journey, I’ve always been true to myself even during my most challenging times. I believe that love and being genuine can carry you a long way no matter what industry you are in.
What I am most proud of is my determination. I’ve been through some pretty low times and almost gave up entirely on everything however I chose to keep going. I chose to pick myself up. I chose to continue to reinvent myself – to become better and stronger.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect is to positively impact another human being. It brings my heart so much joy knowing when I’ve inspired someone, motivated someone or help someone to keep going or to pursue a specific thing. Almost anything we do will have an impact on another person. I always strongly aim to make it a positive one no matter what I’m doing.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Whether it’s a product, book or film etc, my goal is to bring joy, aid, inspiration or useful tools to help make like easier and more enjoyable for others. Life is hard and with so much going on in the world, if I can bring relief in any way to someone I consider my mission a success.
