Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Yomi Gissel . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Yomi , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Growing up I always lacked confidence, and I gravitated towards fashion to feel great, safe and secure. Allowing myself to be true to who I am positively affected how I think and present myself to the world. Fashion allowed me to have a new perspective and allow my creativity to flow into other parts of my life like content creation. That same sensation I feel when I put on a good outfit and feel my best is what I want to be able to transmit to my clients without hiding who they truly are. There is no greater feeling than seeing my clients feel confident with themselves. My mission is for my clients to Look Good and Feel Great because when we look good on the outside, we feel great on the inside. What we wear tells a story of who we are, and a positive appearance helps us radiate confidence to take charge of our lives.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those that don´t know me, my name is Yomi. I´m a creative soul at heart. I’m a Fashion Stylist, Personal Shopper, Image Consultant, and a Social Media Manager. I started in the industry a few years back, when one of my best friends who´s a News Reporter gave me the opportunity to style her. After completing my Bachelors and Masters in Communications and Marketing, I moved to Spain to pursue a Master´s in Fashion to hone my skills and better serve clients.
I specialize in branding styling for businesses, I usually work with marketing companies to style their clients for branding photo shoots. I help entrepreneurs portray an advantageous image for their business. I love that! A whole new branding image all around.
I´m also a personal stylist at The Mall At Millenia. I’ve dipped my toes in other branches of styling like production, but this is the work that truly fuels me. Not only do I get to style clients, but I get to transform them and give them a new look and a new perspective with valuable information such as what suits their body shape and skin tone. So far, every client I have worked with has been a success. Nothing makes me happier than to see my clients feel special. It truly is a blessing.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I personally built my social media presence by being myself. I know it sounds cliche, but it´s true. When I first started my social media I noticed I would try to be someone else I wasn´t and it was mentally exhausting. I changed the script around and started showing my true self, my work, behind the scenes, everything that others are afraid to show and that worked for me. My biggest advice on this is to be consistent, engage with others, be authentic. Never give up! even you are influencing one person, you are still making a difference.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Absolutely! The Fashion styling community is very competitive and closed off. When I started, I reached out to so many established stylists and got rejected. It´s very difficult to learn from others in this industry because not everyone is willing to help you. I have met a couple stylists that have been kind enough to help me immensely, but I know that´s not the case for everyone. I wish there was more tools, courses, and a tighter knit community in Orlando. It´s all about networking and just throwing yourself out there.
