We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Wenzell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I have ever taken was on myself. I was at a point in my life where I knew if I didn’t make a significant change, I would continue to be a victim of life. I was burnt out from my previous profession of being a behavior therapist for 10+ years that worked with the neurodiverse community (clients with autism and special needs). I loved working with my previous clients and seeing their abilities and the way they were able to breakthrough any labels or limitations that were placed on them. It was truly a gift to witness every day. However, the current system does not support the whole of a person, their needs, and their workers. It was like being a cog in a machine, when the service we are meant to provide is the betterment of another’s life, not trying to get them to fit into societal norms boxes. Also, being an empath, it was highly dysregulating being in an environment that does not provide the goal of creating harmony together. Corporate America has yet to get on this page, but with each internal decision that is taken for the healing of oneself, it effects our outer world. That is something I truly believe and have witnessed.
I was at a standstill with my profession, unhappy with where I was living, how I was living and felt completely unfulfilled. Something inside of me knew that I needed a drastic change. I researched the best places to live in the United States and Austin, TX kept coming up as the #1 city back when this all took place in 2017. I went and visited the city to see if this was the risk I was willing to take. In September 2017 I drove from Los Angeles, CA to Austin, TX with a previous boyfriend at the time with our car filled, a job lined up for me, and the hope of something new. We left behind our comfort zone, friends, family, and ways that were holding us back. In those almost 5 years of being in Austin I went through the most profound rebirth of my soul, left my profession of my expertise, ended a relationship I thought would last a lifetime, grieved the loss of my father, became sober, started my own business, and truly found myself again. As I am writing this response I am back where I thought I never would return. The universe has a funny way of working sometimes. Where we think we’d “never” return to a place that caused so much pain, only to come back stronger and have a truly healing and miraculous experience. Being back here in California I am astounded with what is possible when we trust in life’s mysteries. When we think we have it figured out, there is always something to be surprised by when we set aside our egos and connect back into our purest form of being, love.
When I have risked in the well-being of myself and happiness, I have been astounded with my results tenfold. It doesn’t happen immediately as we have been susceptible to the instant gratification of things. What remains everlasting is the progression of repetition of new habitual patterns, dedication to oneself, and choosing your unique path. I continue to practice big risks, trusting my intuition, and breaking through when I notice that fear, obligation, or guilt is there. Because happiness does not live in those places. Happiness is born through adventure, doing what you love, and trusted risks!
Lauren, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Lauren Wenzell, I am 33 years old and an Intuitive Life Coach Specialist that uses different modalities to understand each client at a soul, DNA, and energetic level. I love to travel and be one with nature, connecting to where presently am, and being surprised by the beauty of life. Being a life coach and to truly be able to have effective change with someone, you have to know them intimately and specifically based on their uniqueness. This is something that really stood out to me from my behavior therapy days. Not one client had the same program, they were all different based on their individual needs. Which is the same for every person.
I started my own transformational work in 2013 and saw the opening of so many possibilities. It was a true awakening of peering into a door from victim consciousness and thinking into purpose with a new inquiry of “maybe things do really happen for a reason.” Ever since those first workshops I took, I invested in my personal healing and transformation ever since with personal coaches, courses, therapy, spiritual work, becoming certified in the modalities I use with my clients, and so on. I completely have turned my life, way of being, and profession into alignment with ease, health, surrender, love, and trust. This has come from LOTS of practice. It is not in the perfection of getting things done right, it is the commitment of practice. That’s where we see true change.
I support clients obtaining their wildest and most powerful vision they have for themselves. To give themselves permission and receive the greatest gift–the gift of self-love, knowing the capabilities of their inner power, and seeing themselves through a whole new loving lens. A great formula to produce sustainable results in their lives!
We focus on bringing peace, harmony, balance, healing, and loving energy into their world. We explore and connect them into their feelings of safety in the body while repairing and regulating the nervous system. This is extremely beneficial and useful to heal any sort of trauma that has caused separation from the mind/body connection. We use tools, practices, and energetic work that regulate anxiety, worry, stress, etc. Our bodies are a score keeper from the trauma that we have experienced in the past and unless it is healed and cleared, we are subconsciously emitting that energy into the world and attracting based on those past experiences and the beliefs that are tied to them. And let me tell you, it’s some sneaky stuff that goes beyond what many would not expect at first glance!
For example, have you dated the same person over and over again, but in different body suites? Or go from one job to another to experience the same atmosphere that you were trying to get away from in the first place? This subconscious programming can run deep!! But with the awareness of understanding what keeps these circumstances orbiting and returning into our lives, conscious shifting, and profound commitment, we can create new results that are based on what YOU want!
Working together, a client will experience feeling seen for the radiant powerhouse they are, learn how to unconditionally love themselves and KNOW they are worthy to receive their heart’s desires! We strip away all the layers of outdated programming, conditioning, and lowering subconscious shields that may be keeping those desires unconsciously away. We bring them into alignment with their values, vision, relationships, talents, and a life that has it all! What would be possible to know you are the infinite creator of your reality and create from that space?! The possibilities are ENDLESS!
I use different spiritual and scientific modalities in my coaching (Akashic Record readings, Human Design, mindset work, energetic healing–just to name a few!). I have found that with these techniques and working 1:1 with my amazing clients, their results have been phenomenal and forever life changing! They continue to own their inner power, voice, and speak their dreams into existence while using their own soul and energetic aligned methods to manifest. Healing on a soul, emotional, and energetic level… you will be fully transformed thus allowing in a whole new reality and way of being!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn pushing myself when my energy and body telling me not to. We live in a society where burnout is congratulated like some badge of honor. Anyone who is familiar with human design, which is a system that tells you your unique energetic and aura type, knows that certain types are NOT meant to push or initiate. There is great power in waiting. I had to unlearn all the negative contexts that was associated with waiting, saying no to things that didn’t feel right, what self-love really is, success, and healthy relationships. I basically had to unlearn all the limiting beliefs and biases that caused me great pain, bitterness, and victimization.
In the unlearning I found freedom, a surge of energy returning back to me, what powerful manifestation is when we trust and don’t push or force, and co-creation with life. When we unlearn limited ways of how things “should” be done or feeling things are “just that way,” we are disconnected from a higher truth. If you can unlearn all the ways that have held you back, could be beliefs on health, your self-worth, success, money, love, etc. you will find YOUR own unique alignment with each one. What your true beliefs are and choose each new step in accordance with it. Remember, it’s practice! We are not in a sprint of life; we are here taking each step at a time until our time is up.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Recently I have made a huge pivot in my life, that effects also my business and career. I moved back to Los Angeles, CA, from being in Austin, TX for almost 5 years. Growing a business is the fastest way to grow within yourself. You will find an abundance of strength, dedication, and humility inside of you when you commit again and again to do what you love. I noticed that the environment I was in as I was building my business wasn’t supporting me. I fought this knowing and resistance for some time because I truly wanted it to work. Connecting with my intuition and my higher power (who always knows more than me and my limited perspective of my situation), I saw if I made this move back, had more support, was in an environment that felt more connected, things would change for the better. I weighed the pro’s and con’s, talked to out with my trusted inner circle, and just like the risk I took from CA to TX, I found myself taking that same risk coming back.
Being an entrepreneur, it is crucial to be flexible in the flow of your business. Understanding what supports your unique gifts that you bring to your business, the clientele you get to serve, and the different pivots you get to take. It may not make sense as their happening, but when we surrender to what life is guiding us to it is easier to trust than fight it. That does not mean become docile and give up. It means trusting yourself, knowing what is best for yourself and business. and in breakdowns that is where we learn and grow the most. Each time you may come up against something that feels like it may break you, it is the point in which you uncover how strong and capable you really are. Which then shows up in your business and benefits the people you serve.
