We were lucky to catch up with Hosea Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Hosea thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I combined my middle name, Rotimi, which connects me to my Nigerian roots, with the idea of getting “lost” in creativity. “Lost x Rotimi” reflects a journey—an immersive experience where people step into my world of art. Since I was given a camera at nine, creativity has always driven me. Through moody, desaturated edits, I aim to tell stories beyond the image—inviting viewers to wonder, feel, and connect with the soul of each moment.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
What sets me apart is that I create a world within each frame. My moody, desaturated style isn’t just an aesthetic—it’s a feeling that pulls viewers into a story. I’m inspired by adventure and the raw emotions of everyday life, and that comes through in my work.
I got into this because that camera I was gifted at nine opened my eyes to how much a single moment can say. Since then, I’ve been refining my craft to moods and narratives.
So far, I’m proud of the journey. One of my favorite moments was an Afro-themed shoot where everything just clicked—the culture, the colors, and the emotion. It’s those moments that fuel me to keep pushing my creative boundaries.
When a client works with me, they’re not just getting a photographer; they’re getting a collaborator in bringing their vision to life. Whether it’s a wedding, a couple’s shoot, a graduation, or a passion project, my focus is on elevating it beyond the expected. I take what they feel—their love, their dreams, their culture—and embody it creatively. The result is something that isn’t just a photo—it’s a piece of art. It’s a moment you can print on canvas and hang in your home, something that makes people stop and say, “Wow, this isn’t just photography—this is art.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
During COVID, isolation became a reality. I found myself spending a lot of time alone, but instead of letting that stifle me, I channeled that pent-up creativity. I joined forces with a group of creatives called Aesthetic Minds, where we took on creative challenges that forced me to think differently. In that period of uncertainty, I learned resilience by continually stepping outside the traditional photographer mindset. I didn’t just adapt—I thrived, learning to see creativity as limitless. That experience shaped me into someone who embraces every challenge—it’s why today, I’m able to deliver not just photographs, but truly innovative, heartfelt pieces of art, no matter the circumstances.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the key lessons I had to unlearn was comparison. I used to measure myself against other photographers in a way that left me feeling like I couldn’t reach their level. I had to reframe that mindset because negative comparison isn’t productive. Instead, I now use others’ creativity to fuel my passion. I flipped the narrative: when I see other creatives excelling, I get excited because it motivates me to step up. I don’t compare negatively anymore—I compare in a way that challenges me to be just as creative and, hopefully, even better in my own unique way.
