We recently connected with Heather Kathryn and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I knew from an early age that I wanted to do music and be an artist but what I didn’t know was everything that would entail and the first step I had to take outside of actually performing was moving to Los Angeles. At seventeen I moved to Los Angeles by myself and that was a big risk that I am so happy to have made :)

Heather, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Heather Kathryn turns the truth into lyrics about love, loss, and everything in between. A proud Los Angeles twenty-something, she’s carving out her own lane in pop-punk, blending the grit of Paramore and Avril Lavigne with the pop-rock energy of early Kelly Clarkson. Her songs chronicle dating disasters, dead-end jobs, and the fast-paced highs and lows of young adulthood in the city.
With performances at legendary venues including The Viper Room, El Cid, Whisky-a-Go-Go, The Troubadour, and The Hollywood Palladium, Heather has proven she’s ready to take her chaos-fueled anthems from the stage to the world. Authentic, unfiltered, and armed with riffs sharp enough to cut through the noise, Heather Kathryn is poised to become pop-punk’s next anti-heroine.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Meeting the people who listen to my music, hearing their stories and how my music has helped them through a hard time or brightens their day really brings me so much joy.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I think people might not realize how much money actually goes into making a single song, it’s hard to be constantly putting out music when you don’t have the money to do it. Artists who are starting out do as much as they can for their fans but it can be hard to always have the funds for new music or putting together a tour
