We recently connected with Eric Tha Red and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric Tha Red, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Learning my own craft… Well first, I’ve always been a firm believer in that, music itself, is designed to control how someone feels.
Whether it’s an old or new feeling, essentially that’s why I started to make music in the first place. I wanted to see how different I can make someone feel, through my voice and the words that I choose to say. And how I say them.
Quickly, I learned that, “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” And words themselves, are spells.
Life experiences stood in my way. I needed to get out there… Live to have the words needed to express emotion on canvas. I needed to go through every emotion. Whether it was tears of heartbreak or tears of joy, I needed to go through it.

Eric Tha Red, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Eric Tha Red, I’m a recording artist from Saint Louis, MO.
I got into this industry the way majority of artists do… My love for music.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
My struggles and deepest pains are for your enjoyment.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Don’t be a crab in a bucket; Don’t underestimate ANYONE; Be intentional when you’re wanting to collaborate with someone.
