We were lucky to catch up with Italia Giulia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Italia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
In 2017 I fell off of a bike and hit my head suffering a concussion. From their I dealt with post-concussion syndrome and still deal with it to this day. Back in July/August I went through a big mental health crash related to my concussion while I was weaning off of my medication. So I was in a funk for a long time and eventually I came out of it because I went back on my medication. It put a big road bump in my creative journey because I wasn’t able to do the things I loved which are music and art. Those are the things that keep me going. That was the hardest part for me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started writing songs at the age of 8 and also started drawing at the age of 8. I’m not really sure how I got into it. It just has always been a natural thing for me. I also think I was bored growing up, and needed something to do to occupy myself as I didn’t really go out much. Then after I started creating art and music I was hooked. Music and art became like therapy for me. I think the I’m most proud of is my song lyrics. I think that’s what sets me apart and has always been my strong suit.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I wasn’t so scared to try new stuff in the beginning. Ever since I’ve started painting I’ve being I’ve being doing things I’ve never done before. Drawing things I was always so afraid to draw. I just wish I had known that it’s okay to go out of your comfort zone and that nobody is perfect.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’m not really sure. I just feel like there is something more for me out there. Whether it be in music or art, time will tell for that. I guess that’s been calling me, looking for something more.
