We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kiara Cymone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kiara , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
First and foremost it’s nice to speak with you all again! I’m always greatful when you reach out for an interview. It’s like we’re family now! Lol.
But to answer your question, The biggest yet smallest risk I’ve ever taken was starting my online bridal shop Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique. It’s definitely been life changing and I can’t believe it’s almost been 10 years already since I launched, but over 10 years since I began this whole journey. I say it’s a small risk because I didn’t have to make a huge investment to get it started and actually, I started this with $0.
Looking back over the years I can remember my first thought of making this into a business. In the beginning all I was trying to do was find my own wedding dress then it turned into doing this myself and creating a business, but in a very unconventional and unique way that the bridal industry has never really seen before. That’s what made it such a big risk. I didn’t have any money to open a physical shop, to buy wardrobe, and I honestly didn’t have money for a website in the beginning.
What was initial disappointment of not being able to find a beautiful gown within my budget then turned into a successful business I would then be featured in New York Fashion Week, not once but twice, along side Louis Vuitton and other great designers! Nobody believed in my vision for a long time. Although I’ve been through many ups and down in the business it’s honestly been the best risk I’ve taken so far in my life!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m Kiara Cymone, a Colorado native, Registered Nurse, mother of three, and the Founder & CEO of Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique—a fully online bridal and formal wear brand designed to make luxury, custom fashion accessible to everyone.
My journey into this industry wasn’t traditional at all. My background is in nursing, where I’ve spent over a decade caring for people, advocating for them, and working in high-pressure environments. But I’ve always had a passion for beauty, fashion, and creativity. I wanted something that allowed me to express that side of myself while also creating financial freedom and flexibility for my family. What started as curiosity turned into a full business that has now been featured in New York Fashion Week, Miami Swim Week, and beyond.
Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique specializes in custom gowns, suits, and formal wear for all occasions—not just weddings. We provide a fully online experience where clients can bring their vision to life without needing in-person appointments. Our pieces are custom-made, payment plan friendly, and designed to fit each client’s unique body and style. We also offer wholesale opportunities for aspiring boutique owners, helping others start their own fashion businesses from home.
The biggest problem we solve is access. Many people assume custom or high-end fashion is either too expensive or requires an in-person boutique experience. We’ve eliminated both barriers. Our clients can design their dream look from their phone, from anywhere in the world, at a price point that’s often under $1,000. We also help eliminate the stress of poor fit—our process is highly detailed, and we pride ourselves on a 99% perfect fit rate.
What truly sets us apart is our business model and our mission. We’ve built a brand that’s not only about fashion, but about opportunity. I’ve been able to show others—especially women and mothers—that you can build something impactful from home, even if you have no prior experience in fashion or design. You don’t need to sew or create garments yourself. You just need vision, consistency, and the willingness to learn. I created an Ebook and mentorship to show others how to start their own shop. We also offer wholesale options for current formal shop owners. This was honestly hard to create. Not because the work to get it done but I was battling if I should share my secrets to the world. But God convicted me. I had been so favored by this business now it’s time to show others who need a way out of their 9-5 or need to be home more with their kids like I’m fortunate enough to do. It officially launched 3/1/2026. I’m excited to help others now!
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come without following a traditional path. Being featured alongside major names like Louis Vuitton during New York Fashion Week, while building my business from home, is something I don’t take lightly. It represents not just success, but possibility—for me and for anyone watching my journey.
I want potential clients and supporters to know that Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique is about more than just clothing. It’s about confidence, accessibility, and creating a personalized experience that makes people feel seen and beautiful. And for those who are interested in entrepreneurship, I want them to know that this path is doable. You don’t need a storefront, a huge budget, or years of experience to get started—you just need to start.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I definitely can’t continue any further without mentioning my mentors, friends, business partners Kiara Streater, a entrepreneur mogul that made 30 under 30 on Forbes and so much more accomplishments & Pageant/Prom store owner fashion guru Tonya Mishelle. These ladies really shifted my career to the highest of heights.
A little back story. I met Kiara on facebook (I call her my twin). I posted how I finished RN school in a random group and she congratulated me and sent me a gift! From there it was like we were inseparable! Found out we have so many similarities. Not only sharing the same exact name but even looking a lot a like and so much more! In 2022 she invited me to model for a show she sponsored for Tonya Mishelle in New York Fashion Week. I was ecstatic! I never walked a runway show before let alone a big show like NYFW! This was also at a time where I was going through the worst time in my life and marriage and lost so much weight due to stress. I’m naturally slim anyway but I was extremely thin and insecure. God turned that lemon of my insecurity and used it for me to model.
Fast forward, I finally got to meet Mrs.Tonya Mishelle in New York. She didn’t know at the time I had my own bridal shop. I didn’t bring it up I was there for her brand and was proud. The show was phenomenal and from there we kept in touch over social media.
In 2025 she asked me to collaborate with her on a NYFW show September which would be another first but this time for my brand! Of course I couldn’t pass up that opportunity! The show was absolutely phenomenal! Then again we collaborated together in Nashville Fashion Week that featured Louis Vuitton. October 2025. Another NYFW show with Louis Vuitton February 2026, Tonya Mishelle hosted Miss USA Calander in South Carolina, and just had another fashion show in Spartanburg South Carolina, we will collaborating again in May 2026 in 3 shows for Miami Swim Week where I’ll be showcasing my bridal swim and still bridal formal wear. We’ve been invited to NYFW again in September 2026 and well as Nashville and more!
It’s been a dream come true for me. I always would complain about how I had no support from friends, my then husband, and all of my family besides my mother, even trying to collaborate with businesses from my home town was a huge fail, but God placed these 2 beautiful strangers into my life all the way from South Carolina, at the right time and I will be forever grateful for my twin Kiara Streater and my mentor and friend Tonya Mishelle.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
God placing Kiara Streater and Tonya Mishelle into my life has definitely changed the trajectory of my business and life for the better. I had a good reputation before but being able to be featured in NYFW and other big fashion shows definitely enhanced my name and reputation in this bridal business. As I mentioned before I am the first black owned bridal brand in Colorado to do so. So it’s major! I’m still the underdog and if you ask most shops they probably never even herd of Isn’t She Lovely Bridal Boutique but all that is about to change soon.
And another thing! I also want to give a huge shoutout to Canvas Rebel Magazine for contacting me for interviews. This really helps my reputation as well i can’t forget about mentioning you and your entire team. I don’t take this for granted! Much abundance to you all!
