We were lucky to catch up with Adreon Patterson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adreon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Looking back at my entrepreneur journey, I wish I had started earlier. After dipping my toe into independent contracting, I finally leaped in 2020 (COVID era) to turn gig work into a profitable side hustle. Like many wannabe business owners in 2020, I had the time and expertise to offer my skills on my terms and time without worrying about an employer watching my time or micromanaging me.
I wish my first experiences as a freelancer hadn’t deterred me from pursuing life as a professional creative. I would have grown into my business instead of trying to play catch-up, as I feel now.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Adreon Patterson – a lifelong creative who runs a creative marketing and branding agency dedicated to helping small and mid-sized businesses expand their customer base and reach. Specializing in writing, graphic design, and communications allows me to be a one-stop shop for those without resources or manpower needed for marketing and strategy in an ever-changing market.
I enjoy seeing clients achieve their goals and mission through the visual, written, or digital content I create to help them be their best selves. I always strive to do my best in making a client’s vision become reality.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I knew about all the avenues and outlets for funding a small business. That knowledge would’ve saved me time and heartache from trying to find capital and funds to keep my business going.
Also, access to certain technology or platforms could have helped me expand my reach and network sooner. Of course, I have technology and software to fulfill my professional needs.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I use multiple platforms to keep in contact with clients, both prospective and returning, including social media messages, phone calls, and emails. I send holiday messages along with check-in texts to build a repertoire.
