Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Edward Wiggins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Edward, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
How did I learn to do what I do?
As a musician, God set me up with good teachers that challenged me and while at the same time imparting into me the fundamentals. My high school music teachers, David Dyer and Rebecca Dawson, we very strict. They drilled the fundamentals of music theory and performance and from there, I went on to apply those fundamentals to every instrument I played.
As far as song writing goes, it was a lot trial and error. I wrote songs and then listen to other genres and added elements from those genres to fit my own style. I wanted to make sure the mood of the lyrics and the instrumentation match so it was a lot of trial and error on developing my style. Honestly I still am.
I think the most essential skill is knowing your fundamentals. Knowing the basics of music theory helped me to learn multiple instruments and even start dabbling in the chord progressions of different styles and modes. Fundamentals can carry you a very long way.

Edward, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
About Me
Hi, I’m Edward—most people call me Eddie—and I am a Christian singer-songwriter based in San Antonio, Texas. I write music and poetry to help show people who God is and to support them through difficult times in their lives by showing them that they are loved by God.
My Services
As far as my services and products go, I am a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer who is versatile in multiple genres. I have learned every aspect of my craft—from music creation and arranging to mixing and mastering—so that I can bring different perspectives to each stage, creating cohesive songs at all levels of the production process.
My Guarantee
To my clients and potential clients, I guarantee that when you give me your musical vision, I will provide a polished product that says exactly what your heart is trying to express. I even provide the atmosphere in the soundscape through the mixing process to ensure the message resonates.
The Difference
What sets me apart is my belief that every part of a project tells a story. How you set your tracklist determines the journey your listeners will take; how you mix a song determines the spaces they inhabit on each leg of that journey; and the themes you use paint the pictures they see as they listen. All of these aspects lend themselves to the same story in a record or project. My aim is to tell that cohesive story with excellence.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There is. That goal is to spread to present Jesus Christ to people in a way to where they see both the savior and the comfortable. Hebrews 4:15 says this: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. (NIV)
Sometimes we Christian present only the divine side of Christ ministry. Which is understandable, but without Him getting back up or doing the miracles, we wouldn’t know He was the Christ. However, doing that can sometime put pressure on a person to perform past our weakness rather than go to Jesus with them and allow Him to help us process.
With my music I hope to show that Christ is the Comforter. He isn’t waiting to judge us and send us to hell. Rather He is calling us to come to Him with out weakness and allow Him to comfort us through them. To do that, I write Vulnerable lyrics to show the realities of walking with God while at the same time show His goodness and patience through it all.
I hope to spread that message to the world with my music

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I do and that is being willing to grow while at the same time keeping your roots intact. I think of Tori Kelly and how she as a person remained stable in her fame. She grew in popularity, she had so many doors open to her. Everyone wanted a piece of Tori, but if it was deal she was uncomfortable with or didn’t fit who she was a person and what she stood for, she would decline. She also knew when it was time to try different things in her sound as she develop as a person.
She went from acoustic pop R&B to 90s style because she wanted to try something different and have with it. She adjusted her sound to release the message she wanted to convey that represented that season in her life, i.e., she grew but remained stable.
As a creative, its very important to be firm in who you are so that when you platform grows as you do, but it is equally important to adjust to the season you are in. My style of message has not changed in my writing, however my sonic signature, has adjusted and grew over the years because I grew as a person.
it is a constant tug of war between growth and stability because you have trends and social media influence to compete with. But you have to stand your ground and rooted to make sure that you stay you.
