Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aurora Azon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aurora, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started Fashion A-Fare Boutique because I wanted a space where my love of fashion, creativity, and storytelling could come to life. I have always been drawn to the process behind great style, from fashion forecasting and trend research to the way clothing can express who we are. Over time, that passion led me to discover my love for making jewelry. Creating pieces by hand became a way to share a part of myself while offering items that feel personal, thoughtful, and inspired.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I started Fashion A-Fare Boutique in 2022 while working a part-time retail job. My initial focus for my boutique was to focus on unique pieces for everyday wear to add individuality and style. Along the way, I discovered a passion for designing jewelry which added a more personal and creative layer to my business. I began doing consistent local pop-ups and was invited to display my clothing and handmade earrings in a home decor boutique. This experience ultimately shaped the direction of my brand. Within a few months I was able to go full time to dedicate all to developing my business. Now, three and half years later, I am a full-time vendor at the Troy Farmers (Makers) Market, offering my handmade jewelry, a personalized jewelry bar, and continue to have my online boutique centered around curated clothing. I attend shows in NYC where I meet with the different brands, being able to personally select items based on quality by feeling fabric and paying attention to detail. My online business has been steadily increasing where sales are coming from many states within the U.S.
What sets Fashion A-Fare Boutique apart is the connection between the jewelry I create and the clothing I curate, with each piece reflecting my dedication to quality, wearability, and creativity. I’m most proud of how much I’ve grown in a short period of time for consistently investing in myself and developing my business. What I want people to know is that everything I offer comes from a place of intention, and my goal is to create pieces that feel personal, versatile, and easy to incorporate into everyday style.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
The e-commerce platform I use is Shopify. One of the biggest advantages has been the ability to continuously edit and update it to keep the website feeling fresh. Having full control over the look, layout, and overall customer experience has been incredibly valuable as my business has grown and evolved.
One of the main challenges, especially in the beginning, was the time and effort it took to set up. It was a detailed and sometimes overwhelming process. However, despite that learning curve, I would still choose Shopify because of its flexibility, ease of use over time, and ability to support my business as it grows.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
One of the most valuable resources for me has been my Boutique Hub membership. Through their courses led by industry professionals, I’ve been able to strengthen my business knowledge and approach growth more strategically, especially through their Holiday Masterclass, which helped me better prepare for key sales seasons.
