We recently connected with Jasmine Mejia and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking a risk for me looked like stepping into rooms where I didn’t know a single person but still choosing to build something bigger than myself anyway. When I decided to create a community for small business owners, leaders, and creators, I had no guarantees. I didn’t have a built-in network, a huge following, or even certainty that people would show up. What I did have was a vision a space where people like me could connect, collaborate, and grow together instead of feeling like they had to do everything alone.
It was uncomfortable at first. I had to put myself out there, reach out to strangers, host events, and show up as a leader before I fully felt like one. There were moments of doubt where I questioned if anyone would care or if I was doing enough. But I kept going because I knew how much I needed that kind of community and if I needed it, someone else did too.
Over time, that risk turned into something meaningful. People showed up. Connections were made. Collaborations happened. And what started as a scary step into the unknown became a growing network of supportive, driven individuals who are now building alongside each other.
That experience taught me that sometimes the biggest risks come from following a vision you can’t fully see yet but those are also the ones that can create the most impact.

Jasmine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jasmine, and I’m the founder of JEFAMINDSET a community and platform built to empower small business owners, leaders, and creators, especially women, to step into their confidence and build something meaningful.
JEFAMINDSET was created from a place of both passion and necessity. I realized that so many of us are building our dreams behind the scenes, often feeling alone, unsupported, or unsure of where we fit. I didn’t have a big network when I started. I was walking into rooms where I didn’t know anyone but I had a vision to create a space where people could genuinely connect, collaborate, and grow together.
Through JEFAMINDSET, I focus on creating experiences that bring people together , whether that’s through networking events, collaborations, or simply creating a platform where individuals feel seen and heard. It’s not just about business growth, it’s about mindset, confidence, and building real relationships that open doors.
What sets JEFAMINDSET apart is the intention behind it. This isn’t just another networking group it’s a community rooted in support, authenticity, and elevation. I lead with the belief that when women collaborate, we create a bigger impact, and that success becomes more powerful when it’s shared.
One of the things I’m most proud of is building this community from the ground up, especially without having a strong network to begin with. It took stepping out of my comfort zone, showing up consistently, and believing in a vision that didn’t yet have proof but now, seeing people connect, support each other, and grow together makes it all worth it.
At its core, JEFAMINDSET is about reminding people that they don’t have to do this alone. You can build, grow, and become everything you’re meant to be while being surrounded by a community that genuinely wants to see you win.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that I had to be for everyone in order to be successful. In the beginning, I put a lot of pressure on myself to be liked, accepted, and understood by everyone I came across. I thought that if I wasn’t connecting with someone, it meant I was doing something wrong.
Over time, I realized that not everyone is meant to resonate with me and that’s okay. What I’ve learned instead is that my strength isn’t in being everything to everyone, but in being a connector. Even if I’m not the right fit for someone, I might be the bridge that leads them to the right person, opportunity, or space they need.
That shift changed everything for me, especially in building JEFAMINDSET. It allowed me to focus less on trying to fit into every room and more on creating rooms where the right people can find each other. It also took the pressure off and replaced it with purpose.
Now, I lead with authenticity and intention, knowing that the right people will align and when they do, it creates stronger, more meaningful connections not just for me, but for the entire community.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe what helped me build my reputation within my market is my genuine love and support for others. I’ve always been someone who naturally uplifts, connects, and pours into people without expecting anything in return.
In a space where things can sometimes feel competitive, I chose to lead with collaboration instead. I show up consistently, support other businesses, celebrate their wins, and create opportunities for people to grow and connect. That authenticity is something people can feel it’s not forced, it’s who I am.
Through JEFAMINDSET, that same energy is reflected in everything I do. I’ve built trust by being intentional, by creating real relationships, and by genuinely wanting to see others succeed. Because of that, people don’t just see me as a brand they see me as someone who creates safe spaces, meaningful connections, and opportunities.
At the end of the day, my reputation wasn’t built off trying to impress people it was built off how I make people feel. And I think that’s what truly sets me apart.
