We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Madeline Rose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Madeline below.
Hi Madeline, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Choosing to leave the safety and security of a job to create my own. For years, I tried to balance having a “day job” and pursuing wedding photography, but I was never able to give it my all. When I finally made the jump to be creative for my full-time job, I was fearful, but it’s the biggest risk I’ve taken and best decision I’ve ever made for myself.
6 years ago, I took a bet on myself to go full-time and be myself in every corner of my job, and though there have been hard seasons and setbacks, I have always felt fulfilled in what I do. Going all in on something that makes you feel alive will never be the wrong decision in my head

Madeline, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I became a photographer accidentally! long story short, my friend gave me his old camera and said he thought I’d be good at it. Two years later, I quit my job to pursue documenting weddings full-time, and the last 6 years have been so immensely full of heart, passion, and growth.
I photograph people in LOVE! My dream clients are couples who really don’t care about any photos being “perfect”. They want to BE a part of their wedding weekend and trust me to document it perfectly to them. I thrive on creative freedom and trust, when I know my clients booked me for ME, not cause they just needed a photographer. I love the mess of life, I love the romance in the mundane, I love the strange and the emotional. I love people who prioritize human connection for their wedding over perfect material details
Feeling like a friend at your wedding is my big secret thats not really a secret at all. I want to get to know my clients and their people as much as I possibly can. I adore meeting people and connecting, and the more I get to do that for one couple, the more natural their photos feel. Breaking the walls down from the usual “stranger walking in with a huge camera” to “our friend madeline coming to take pics of us in love”- it changes everything. and in return, I have friends in so many new places over the years! What a joy!
I care very deeply for the work that I do and the way I get to serve my clients. This job is one thing I have always been sure about since I started.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I think this is one I’m currently still unlearning, and that is second-guessing myself.
There have been countless instances where I had a gut decision, choice, preference, you name it, but I started to second-guess myself or compare myself to others, and I made some small, and some big decisions out of fear or uncertainty, and when those choices came to fruition, my gut was always right. I am in a season of constantly reminding myself to trust my instincts, take leaps, and to always welcome change.
It might not work out, but why wouldn’t I try anyway!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
This may sound silly, but just making friends and being kind to others. You never know what will come from saying hello or giving a compliment when you see fit. natural connections, deep conversations, and being in the right place at the right time has led me to some of my dream weddings
