We recently connected with E.clips3 and have shared our conversation below.
E.clips3, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Honestly, I’ve always known from a young age that I wanted to pursue work in a creative space. I grew up in a family full of musicians and performers, so it was inevitable that I’d be doing what I do today.
My grandmother was a piano instructor and used to play for the church when I was growing up. My mom was also a singer and used to perform in Europe when I was a kid. My aunts were pianists and singers, and I even had an uncle who used to DJ at some point haha.
Needless to say there were plenty of creatives in my fam to pull inspiration from when I was growing up. But I’d say my oldest cousin was the one that actually sold me on music production and eventually introduced me to FL Studio back in 2013.

E.clips3, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is e.clips3, and I am a 28 y/o music producer and DJ currently residing in Japan! I basically got my start making beats on a cracked version of FL Studio on my mom’s Windows XP back when I was 14 or so. Most, or pretty much all, of those beats were terrible and will never see the light of day haha. But I started taking music production more seriously once I started going to school for Recording Arts in 2016, and it’s basically been up from there. I started building a presence online by uploading edits/remixes monthly through SoundCloud and other digital streaming platforms. I was basically making music for friends and fam for like 5 years unfortunately. However, in 2021, things started to change for me when the world shut down. One of my Kehlani remixes took off like crazy, and that’s when the algorithms really started working in my favor, I guess.
Now I’m 3 million streams in and feel like I’m just getting started!
I pretty much make the type of music that I like to listen to, which is basically everything haha. It honestly comes down to what’s inspiring me at the time. Some days I’m feeling like House or UKG. Some days I’m feeling like Amapiano or Drum and Bass. Some days I’m feeling ignorant and want to make the most basic trap beat in the world. The beauty is in the ability to be diverse, and I think that’s what separates me from a lot of other producers. I never want to be boxed in as the “this” producer or the “that” producer. I can literally make whatever genre I feel like making or want to learn, and that’s a skill set I’m super proud of.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in the music space is the reach that you develop with people all over the world. To know that there is some dude listening to me after a long day of work in Germany, or even some girl is burning calories at the gym in Amsterdam to my music is a blessing beyond belief. Music is global, and the fact that I can make people feel something from the ideas in my head and the feelings in my heart all over the world is quite literally the best feeling in the world. It’s what I do it for.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
It literally costs nothing to support an up-and-coming creative. Whether it be a share on a social media post or a share of a song to your family or friends. I think anyone that’s a creative, in general, can agree that the average person loves to promote someone they don’t know that’s already established, but refuses to do the bare minimum to support someone they do know who’s trying to make a name for themselves, even if it’s free to do so. Then again… they do say that the last place that will support you is your hometown. So who knows…
