We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Melanie Legamaro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Melanie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you ever seen (or implemented) a really awesome way to show a client you appreciate them
As a long-time sales and client relationship manager, I’ve spent years perfecting the craft of making clients feel heard and appreciated. Strong communication almost always circumvents disappointment and frustration and builds trust as you work as a team. I always look for meaningful contributions from more junior members of the team – including the executive assistants and make sure that their bosses appreciate their skillset (and often coach them so that those are even stronger).

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an experienced
Branding Consultant with over 20+ years of corporate
experience on Wall Street. Having worked with some of the
country’s largest hedge funds and mutual funds, and
regularly traveling with Fortune 500 CEOs, I specialize in
leadership development, capital closing, high-level sales,
branding and organizational growth.
My unique talent lies in my ability to connect and
empower executives to identify and foster trust-based
relationships with senior figures across business and
technical domains and those under their guidance. As a
strategic thinker, I pride myself on seeing companies
from a customer-centric perspective and translating these
insights into viable solutions to steer her clients toward
focused pursuits and a meaningful return on their
investment – both time and money.
Raised in a military family, I learned the value of a strong
work ethic and adaptability. I graduated from The
University of South Carolina and obtained my financial
securities licenses for trading, compliance, and branch
management (institutional equity) while working at Citi. As I started my consulting
business, I was frequently helping real estate businesses, so I
became a licensed real estate agent in Texas to better understand the challenges
my clients were facing. My diverse real estate consulting experience includes single and
multi-family, storage, capital raising/closing, marketing, and product development.
My dedication to helping individuals – from mastermind colleagues,
to twenty-something kids of my friends talk through their plans and challenges, I am frequently
sharing my experiences to ensure that others have a map to follow in the hopes that their path is easier.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I have repeatedly had entrepreneurs and clients tell me that they always turn to me first because 1) I don’t sugarcoat anything – I professionally address the issues that I identify and use my extensive relationship database to find solutions that are appropriate and cost effective, and 2) I ALWAYS do what I say I’m going to do – or ensure that the teams I recommend do. People overthink how to create strong, positive impressions, which I believe is a competitive advantage to any business owner who can simply deliver.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
I work closely with a team with in-depth knowledge of Predictive Index to ensure you have your people in the right roles, engaged in tasks that keep them energized and focused on the team’s goals. In my opinion, there is no better way to keep morale high than to invest time and money in laying the foundation for success.
