We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jahdea Kedeche. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jahdea below.
Hi Jahdea, thanks for joining us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Earning a tertiary education, I plagued with tension headaches. I sought out western medicine and was told emotional pain was now manifesting as physical pain. It planted a seed of curiosity into a more holistic approach to self healing and discovery. Not long after yoga found me in my rural community of Portland Jamaica and that’s where it all began. The mind/body/spirit approach resonated with me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jahdea Kedeche, a Yardie (Jamaican) turned Yogi, and the voice behind @theyardieyogi. I’m the founder of ResYes Yoga and Wellness, a holistic wellness space devoted to helping women (especially high-performing, melanated women) to release tension, restore balance, and reconnect with their natural rhythm.
My journey into this work began during a season of deep physical pain that I later understood was rooted in emotional overwhelm that began to manifest as physical pain. Yoga found me and became way more than movement—it became a pathway back to myself. The mind, body, spirit approach definitely resonated. That experience shaped the way I now guide others: gently, intentionally, and with deep reverence for the body’s wisdom.
Through ResYes, I offer yoga classes (both in-person and online), courses, circles, and retreats—all designed to support nervous system healing, self-discovery, and sustainable wellbeing. What sets this work apart is its grounding in Afro-Jamaican traditions and a decolonized, systems-based approach to wellness. This is not about quick 7 day fixes, it’s about returning to wholeness, in a way that honors both personal and collective healing.
I’m most proud of the values that anchor this space: accessibility, ancestry, and authenticity. ResYes is more than a brand, it’s a remembering. A return to community. A quiet but powerful wellness revolution where we reclaim rest, resilience, and the right to exist in our fullness. We’re bringing back the village!
What I want people to know is this: you don’t have to push harder to feel better. There is another way—one rooted in your unique rhythm, softness, and truth. And you don’t have to walk it alone.
