Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia Cannon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Patricia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I started out as a birth photographer. I loved capturing women at their absolute strongest. Witnessing them own their body and bring life into the world was amazing. Unfortunately, the unstructured time constraints did not work well for my type A family. I started doing other portrait photography (newborn, maternity, family) and I liked them well enough, non as much as birth. Then I, on a whim, booked a day of boudoir sessions. When I left that day after the last women was done I knew I found what I wanted to do. It gave me the same feeling. Capturing a woman owning her own body and sexuality really was fulfilling. It took me a few years to figure out that I could do only that and be successful, but once I focused on just boudoir it all fell into place.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have a studio in tampa and have been shooting strictly boudoir for 6 yrs. I have another photographer that works for me and between the two of us we see on average 4 women a week. We specialize in showing women how beautiful they truly are no matter their size or shape every body is worthy of being photographed. We pose our clients from head to toe including how to look sexy without it looking forced.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that photography can’t be profitable. That no one can make money as a photographer. My studio (and a few others I know are proving that wrong. Clients will pay for an amazing experience and beautiful artwork

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
when my family was unhappy with the long hours of birth photography I had to change for them, I didn’t want, but it was also stressful for me knowing they were stressing.
