Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Karat Ka$h. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Karat Ka$h, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I grew up really outside and always seemed like there was music playing. You ask my mom she a say I was rappin as a kid but music always hit my soul. I used to sing (juss to myself) and thought I was good but coming where I’m from that wasn’t cool
Or tough. Cincinnati had an autotune wave that hit and a group called the Scudda Bros stood out to me and I knew being born in cincy I could make music and try to be the best from where I’m from so I started rapping trying to have real bars involved with drops like 50x Bars or 50 bars part 2. I dropped a independent project call Gave Yaw My All and debuted my vocals and pain in my music then I moved to Dayton Ohio to live with my pops in 2018 and was blessed to be taught, inspired and encouraged by some of the best creatives I ever met to this day and found myself and how I wanted to sound. I mix soul and melody with pain and struggle in what I call trap soul.. that’s a little bit of background of what made me

Derrick , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I wasn’t one of the kids on the internet when it took over the world or at least started to so I’ve always lived with every experience I’ve been through. I’m a true believer in if it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger and I want my supporters to kno I can relate to them. It’s rare for someone that dealt with my struggles and losses to be able to consciously live and talk about how to overcome being poor or feeling alone or losing a parent or never having a family. I want them to kno I’m here for them and my music can hopefully let them understand or cope with anything. I also want them to not live in a slump or be down because life is too short to not be enjoyed

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Hear them out and actually listen to them at least once before downplaying them as a local or independent on the come up artist

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had a real team to guide me as a youngin so I could see me as a kid in the studio and see what could’ve became of it
