We recently connected with Nyah Zo and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nyah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My most meaningful project to date has been my latest album, While You Were Asleep. This body of work represents a deeply personal journey of self-actualization, surrender, and transformation. It reflects the process of unlearning — letting go of old habits, beliefs, and versions of myself that no longer aligned with who I was becoming.
The album captures multiple periods of my life where I experienced an internal rebirth — a release of my past self and the patterns that no longer served me. Creating it allowed me to process that evolution in real time, turning those experiences into something honest and artistic.
What makes this project so meaningful to me is that it’s not just music — it’s a reflection of who I became while creating it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Nyah’Zo — @nyahzo on Instagram,
a singer, songwriter, creative director, model, and vocal producer based between New York and Long Island. I got into music at a young age, but it became real for me when I realized it was more than just expression — it was a way to tell truth, shift energy, and connect with people on a deeper level. From there, I committed to developing my sound, my voice, and my vision as an artist and creative.
My work goes beyond just making music. I create experiences. Whether it’s through my songs, live performances, visual direction, or vocal production, everything I do is rooted in authenticity and intention. I offer services that range from live performances and songwriting to vocal production and creative direction — helping other artists and brands bring their vision to life while also building my own.
What sets me apart is my ability to translate real emotion into something people can feel instantly. I don’t create from a surface level — everything comes from lived experience, growth, and self-awareness. I’m not afraid to be vulnerable in my work, and that honesty is what allows people to connect with it in a genuine way.
I think one of the biggest problems I solve, both for myself and for others I work with, is clarity — helping turn feelings, ideas, and stories into something structured, intentional, and impactful. Whether it’s a song, a performance, or a full creative concept, I know how to bring vision into form.
What I’m most proud of is my evolution — not just as an artist, but as a person. Every project reflects growth, discipline, and a deeper understanding of who I am and what I stand for. My latest album, While You Were Asleep, is a perfect example of that — it represents transformation, release, and stepping fully into my truth.
More than anything, I want people to know that my brand is about realness, growth, and elevation. When you tap into my work, you’re not just hearing music or seeing visuals — you’re experiencing a journey.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I’m driven by a vision of the world as I believe it can be — a healed one. Everything I create is rooted in that perspective.
My goal is to contribute to that healing in any way I can, using my words, my music, and my lived experiences. I create from a place of honesty and intention, with the hope that it resonates, uplifts, and helps others process, grow, and evolve in their own way.
At the same time, my journey is personal — I’m healing through my work as well. It’s a continuous exchange of energy, growth, and transformation, both for myself and for the people who connect with what I create.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspects of being an artist, for me, are freedom of expression, release, and connection.
Creating gives me the space to express myself fully, without limits or expectations. It’s a form of freedom that allows me to be honest and unapologetic in who I am. There’s also a deep sense of release that comes with it — being able to channel emotions, experiences, and energy into something meaningful.
A big part of my process is taking pain, or any emotion, and stripping it down to its core until I can find the beauty in it. That transformation is powerful for me, and I think it’s what allows others to connect so deeply.
Above everything, it’s the connection that makes it all worth it. Knowing that something I created can resonate with someone else, make them feel seen, understood, or even help them through something — that’s the most powerful part of what I do.
