Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christie Finnegan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The bigger the risk, the greater the reward. I’ve been a risk taker my entire life. Taking the road less traveled or the more adventurous path has been a playful and fun experience for me. The thrill of not knowing is a wondrous vibe Becoming a small business owner is a risk with in itself. I believe if you follow your intuition and your life’s purpose the risks will be greatly rewarded. Creative Minds Preschool has always felt like home. Being a mother to my 3 daughters is the most important job I have so if I can do this work and be a good mother than it’s worth every risk I’ve taken so far. I know this is my work. I know it speaks to families that want unstructured play, messy hands and wild hearts. So I’ll continue to play everyday and am even seeking out a second location at this time. My next risk waiting in the shadows.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Christie Finnegan, owner and lead teacher of Creative Minds Preschool. Our program is art infused, nature inspired and a play based curriculum with little structure. Creative Minds is a multi age, morning only program in North Mt Pleasant. We have been providing a unique, playful environment for 14 years. We believe uninterrupted play is the best environment for young children to grow and thrive. Everyday we play, spend hours outside, enjoy an educational circle time and have visiting teachers that share music, art, physical education and much more! Everyone involved in our program creates a beautiful, loving space for all children.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients is word of mouth. Local mothers chatting with one another over coffee or on the playground has brought many clients to Creative Minds Preschool. The best resource we have is social media. Our Facebook page and the local neighborhood groups are a great way to advertise and grow our clientele.

Any advice for managing a team?
Choosing a team that has high morals and wants what is best for the children and the preschool overall s of upmost importance. Seeking out professional assistants and visiting teachers makes the classroom function properly. Again I use my intuition when bringing anyone into this unique and loving environment. The helpers should have patience and a deep understanding for all children and to truly love and accept them as they are while instilling kindness, gentleness and love in each students heart.
