We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Viktoriia Gevlenko. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Viktoriia below.
Viktoriia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
My name is Viktoriia Gevlenko, a professional dancer, choreographer, performer, and creative artist currently based in Miami.
My dance journey began in Siberia, where I started training at the age of five and quickly developed a passion for competitive ballroom dancing. After years of training and competing in both Latin and Standard ballroom programs, dance became the foundation of my professional life.
After moving to Moscow, I expanded my career in the performing arts industry. I became the lead choreographer and instructor at the Accent Dance Studio and Show Ballet, where I taught ballroom dance and choreographed performances for concerts, festivals, television productions, and large public events. During this time, I also worked as a performer and participated in numerous commercial productions, films, and music videos.
Eventually, I made the bold decision to move to Miami to continue building my career internationally. Starting from zero in a new country was challenging, but it also opened new opportunities.
Today, I earn my living entirely through my creative work. I perform at well-known venues and major nightlife destinations in Miami, collaborate with entertainment agencies, and regularly work as a dancer and performer at private and large-scale events. In addition, I appear in music videos for popular artists, commercials, and film productions as a performer, actress, and model.
Beyond performing, I am also passionate about sharing my experience with others. I teach ballroom dance and host dance classes and workshops, continuing to grow both as a performer and educator. At the same time, I am actively training in International Latin ballroom dancing and preparing for upcoming competitions.
My career has been built through persistence, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to the performing arts. Today I am proud to have built a professional life where dance, performance, and creative expression are not only my passion, but also my full-time profession.

Viktoriia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Viktoriia Gevlenko, and I am a professional dancer, performer, choreographer, and dance instructor currently based in Miami.
My journey in dance began when I was five years old in Siberia. I trained in several disciplines including ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, and competitive ballroom dance. Ballroom dancing quickly became my greatest passion, and I competed in both Latin and Standard programs from a young age. Although I temporarily stepped away from professional competition at 17 to focus on university and work, dance always remained an important part of my life.
Later, while living in Moscow, I returned to the industry more actively. I worked as a ballroom dance instructor and eventually became the lead choreographer and performer of the Accent Show Ballet. In this role, I created choreography, trained dancers, and performed in concerts, festivals, television productions, and large public events.
At the same time, I began developing my on-camera career, participating in music videos, commercials, and film productions. I had the opportunity to appear in projects with well-known artists such as Nicky Jam, Maluma, Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen, and others. These experiences helped me expand my work as a performer, actress, and creative artist.
After moving to Miami, I continued building my career internationally. Today I perform as a professional dancer and performer at many well-known venues in Miami, including Sexy Fish Miami, E11EVEN, Sugar East, and numerous private and luxury events. I also collaborate with entertainment agencies and continue to work in music videos, commercials, and film productions.
In addition to performing, teaching has always been an important part of my work. I have taught ballroom dance and conducted master classes at dance studios, including studios in Jupiter, Florida. I also provide private dance lessons and enjoy helping others discover confidence and expression through dance.
At the same time, I continue training myself. I am currently preparing for ballroom dance competitions while further developing my career as both a performer and instructor.
What sets me apart is my versatility as an artist — I combine professional dance training, choreography, teaching, live stage performance, and on-camera work. My career spans many years and different countries, and my goal is to continue growing as a performer while sharing my passion for dance with audiences and students around the world.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the biggest moments that tested my resilience was moving to Miami to restart my life and career from zero. I arrived with one suitcase, about $1,000, and very limited English, without knowing anyone in the city. At first, I had to take any job I could find just to survive.
But I never stopped pursuing my passion for dance and performance. I continued training, attending castings, and looking for opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Over time, those efforts began to pay off. I started performing at well-known venues in Miami such as Sexy Fish, E11EVEN, and Sugar East, as well as at private luxury events, while also continuing to work in music videos, commercials, and film productions.
That experience taught me an important lesson: talent is important, but persistence is what truly shapes a career. Sometimes the most difficult chapters become the foundation of your future success.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to connect with people through performance. Dance is a universal language — even without words, it can communicate emotion, energy, and storytelling.
For me, performing on stage and seeing the audience respond to that energy is incredibly powerful. It reminds me why I chose this path.
Another deeply rewarding part of my work is teaching. When I share my experience with students and see their confidence grow through dance, it feels just as meaningful as performing. Being able to inspire others while continuing to grow as an artist myself is what makes this journey so fulfilling.
