We recently connected with Natalie O. and have shared our conversation below.
Natalie , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with Goth Romantic Jewelry back in October of 2025 with this crazy idea of blending 18th century goth romanticism aesthetics with Rococo art, aristocratic art that felt vampy, very macabre period pieces. I was inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Books of The Bronte’s, Queen Elizabeth, Marie Antionette, to Nosferatu. I wanted to highlight the lace silhouettes, glossy whites, with light and bold tones. I was solving a problem no else was solving by bringing 18th century jewelry to the forefront that is elegance, dark, macabre. stainless steel silver, and gold eco-brass that is safe for the skin. This isn’t costume piece jewelry, but ownership. Ownership of your own jewelry collection that is luxurious. I got excited about this idea and the collection of accessories, which can really redefine an outfit!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born and raised in Houston Tx all my life but live in Eugene, Oregon now for six years. I have worked in retail for about seven years of life, worked for two years in Operati0ns Management, and fell in love with visual merchandising. I have always appreciated and loved art, modern art, and some post-modern art, I grew up with physical media. I read a lot of books, and found an appreciation for film and all things horror. I’m a huge fan.
I wanted to create a business that showcase what I loved and what I’m passionate about. Fashion, film, horror, and art. What I am most proud of is creating this business and sharing it with the world. What I want people to know about my brand is that we’re new. The underdogs in the fashion industry that is women-owned, authentic, sexy, cool, macabre, and eco-friendly. I am truly proud of putting together this brand and the future opportunities and growth this company will experience. We do have two pop-ups coming up April 25th in Seattle for the Pancake Booze & Art Show, and another in Portland, May 15th for the same event.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I had to pivot my career since I felt like I wasn’t getting fulfillment in working for most retail companies. I’ve done it all from warehouse/receiving, operations, recruiting, merchandising, to even working at an art gallery. I got tired of answering to people, working long unstable hours with an over demanding schedule. I always believed in having my own business, so I decided to move forward with Goth Romantic Jewelry as a step forward.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media through word of mouth mostly, and using platforms such as TikTok to really capture a connection with our customers. I would highly encourage to use your favorite source of media and use that as part of your marketing in capturing your audience. Understand your brand first and have fun with your audience. The more fun yet down-relaxed, and authentic you are, the more your audience pays attention, I mean c’mon, look at Emma Chamberlain, the famous youtuber, now Coffee shop entrepreneur. She did just that with a formula.
