Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Myke Sims. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Myke, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I was into club promotion when i first got out of college in 2012. I used the clubs as my platforms to showcase my custom designs for a whole year. I then, started to let people know that i was making the clothes myself. So through club promotion, i landed my first few clients.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Myke Sims and I’m from Bastrop, Louisiana. The population is a little under or a little over 10,000. I feel that most of us were raised to be unique. So i always tried to stand out from the crowd. I always loved fashion through hip hop music. I loved the way the artist dressed. My favorites were the Hot Boys, No Limit, Fabolous, and then Lil Wayne has been my favorite of all time. So i chose fashion for my industry because it was second nature to me. I was voted most original in high school and best dressed in college. One day, listening to the “Steve Harvey Morning Show”, they were speaking about careers. He then said, “your career should be something that you’re passionate about and that you can do to the best of your ability with the least amount of effort. It was, hands down, fashion for me. I decided to start sewing because i would try to style clients and i would find pieces that i liked but always wanted to change little things about it. So i started customizing and it grew into making the garments completely from scratch. Sewing took allot of time and discipline. I literally treated it like i just got a new PlayStation and i was on it all day, everyday. I probably put 10,000 hrs in, in 3-4 years.
As a business, I’ve created my own products that i sell online. I still provide wardrobe styling services as well. I also offer alterations on garments that I’ve created. I’m most proud of turning my friends, celebrities, and other people in the community, into genuine fans of the brand. I’ve been servicing clients with no fashion sense, no time, no knowledge of how to bring certain idea to life, etc. The fact that i can find garments or just make them, separate me from my competitors. My genuine care for making them feel special also separates me from my competitors. Customer service is everything to me. The quality of the product or service is the next most important after that.
For potential clients interested in supporting the brand, just know that you’re supporting a brand that specializes in quality first. Ready to wear or custom made, i guarantee good quality material. Also, we genuinely care about meeting the need or solving your issue brought to us. We are here to make you feel heard, assisted, and that you have an experience that leaves an everlasting impression.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I’m currently manufacturing my products now. I was making all of the garments myself at the beginning. Then i met a production company online from Pakistan. We had problems with little details that they weren’t getting right. It was making me waste money. They kept trying to convince me to just come over and show them how to do it myself. It’s took a few years but i eventually took the trip to Pakistan and stayed for 60 days. So i was able to go put my own crew together and we got the product right. We also had a real understanding of what i considered to be good quality. The trip was August to October of 2023.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson that i had to unlearn was that you had to do everything yourself if you wanted the job done right. I had to unlearn that because i was running myself crazy, not sleeping, not taking care of my body, and stressed from trying to wear so many hats. I learned that if you want to get things done right and at the quality level that you wanted, you needed to be able to communicate that to the people that you delegated the tasks to. You need a team to grow.
