We were lucky to catch up with Tara Bre recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tara, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of the biggest risks I ever took was fully betting on myself.
For nearly two decades, I experienced the benefits of corporate America — the high salary, the stability, the benefits, and the predictability that comes with working for someone else. In many ways, it was comfortable. But I eventually realized I was climbing a ladder I didn’t truly want to be on.
Choosing to leave that security and build something of my own was both exciting and terrifying. Starting a business and committing to serve others through my own vision requires courage, discipline, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty.
Yet the moment I submitted my resignation and stood firmly in my values, my leadership style, and my belief in what I could build — it felt incredibly empowering. Turning down another corporate opportunity afterward reinforced that I had made the right decision.
It was the biggest risk I’ve taken, and one I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Real change requires stepping into discomfort. Growth rarely happens in the safe zone. I chose to take that risk — and it changed everything.

Tara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My career has been shaped by leadership, entrepreneurship, and building brands that deliver exceptional performance and service. I spent nearly two decades in corporate leadership roles focused on distribution, operations, and strategic growth, where I learned how strong systems, clear accountability, and disciplined execution drive successful organizations.
At the same time, I’ve always been an entrepreneur. In 2009, I founded BreLuxe Beauty, an on-location luxury beauty company specializing in hair and makeup for weddings and special events. BreLuxe was built around a simple idea: beauty services should feel as elevated and seamless as the events themselves. Today, our company is known for delivering timeless artistry while creating calm, organized wedding mornings for our clients.
I also serve as the Chief Marketing Officer for Applied Racing Components (ARC), a leader in nitrous bottle warmers and temperature management solutions for the racing, automotive, and aircraft industries. ARC is recognized for its precision engineering and expertise in temperature control, helping performance professionals achieve consistent and reliable results in high-performance environments.
While these industries may seem very different, the philosophy behind my work is the same: build brands that people trust. Whether we are supporting clients on one of the most meaningful days of their lives or helping racers maximize performance through precision temperature, the focus is always on reliability, quality, and service.
What I’m most proud of is building organizations that create opportunities for talented professionals while maintaining a strong commitment to integrity and excellence.
I believe the strongest brands are built through consistency, resilience, and a deep respect for the people you serve.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
BreLuxe began in 2009 as a side business while I was working full-time in corporate leadership. I had always loved the beauty industry, but I also noticed something missing in the wedding market at the time — a highly professional, on-location beauty team that approached wedding mornings with the same level of organization, reliability, and service as other luxury vendors.
In the early years, I balanced a demanding corporate career during the week while doing bridal hair and makeup on weekends. What started as a small passion project quickly grew through word-of-mouth referrals from brides, planners, and venues who appreciated the calm, polished experience we created on such an important day.
One of the first major milestones was transitioning from a solo artist to building a team of highly skilled hair and makeup professionals. That shift allowed BreLuxe to support larger bridal parties and multiple events while maintaining the high standards we had become known for.
Another important milestone was establishing BreLuxe as a trusted name within the wedding and events community. As relationships with planners, venues, and creative partners grew, so did our reputation for professionalism, artistry, and reliability.
Today, BreLuxe has served thousands of brides, grooms and clients and continues to focus on delivering timeless beauty and a seamless, stress-free experience on wedding mornings.
What I’m most proud of is that while the company has grown significantly since those early days, our core mission has remained the same: to provide seamless beauty experiences to everyone.
We serve local artists opportunities to do what they love, help clients feel confident, cared for some of the most meaningful moments of their lives, and provide an experience vendors can rely on over and over again.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One moment that truly illustrates resilience in my journey happened while I was building BreLuxe alongside a demanding corporate career. In the early years, BreLuxe was something I worked on during evenings and weekends — often starting wedding mornings before sunrise after a full workweek.
There were many times when the easier path would have been to keep things small or walk away from the side business entirely. Balancing two careers required discipline, long hours, and a lot of personal sacrifice. But I believed strongly in the vision of creating a professional, reliable on-location beauty team that brides and planners could truly depend on.
The turning point came when I realized the business had grown beyond just a personal passion project. The demand from clients and the trust from planners and venues showed me that BreLuxe was filling a real need in the market.
Instead of stepping back, I leaned in — building a metwork of talented artists and creating systems that allowed the company to grow while maintaining the high level of service we were known for.
That experience taught me that resilience isn’t always about dramatic moments. Often, it’s about consistently showing up, doing the work, and believing in the vision long enough to see it take shape. BreLuxe exists today because of that persistence, and it remains one of the things I’m most proud to have built.
