We were lucky to catch up with Julio recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Julio, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
My business life has always been a risk, ever since I started creating several businesses (Clothing Brand, Photography Career, Candy Supplier, Multilevel business) that didn’t work out. I would always think about something that I felt passionate about and start looking for ways to make profit out of it, If I wanted to do something I’d think about it for a couple of days, and and take action. A life changing risk I took was when I created PC Construction, which is now KC Global. I was working at the field at that time and have multiple talks with my cousin about wanting to open a company. I’m never comfortable of having an idea and not execute it, so one day I came home from work, grabbed my computer and designed a business card. Once I had the business cards I missed work the next day and started making phone calls to all the connections I had and offer them my service. This was a risk because I had no experience in managing a company or money to even pay one guy, anyways, three days later I received a phone call and it was a guy saying that he needed help to perform some work at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and asked me for 6 workers, I did not have the 6 people neither the money to pay them , again, I couldn’t even afford one guy and they needed to be paid by Friday . This guy closes week on Tuesdays and It was a Thursday when he called to start working on Friday, we worked Friday – Tuesday so since he closes week on Tuesdays I got a check on Friday and that’s how I managed to pay all those 6 guys. But if it wasn’t for that decision I wouldn’t be where am at today
Julio, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My dad was the reason I got into the industry of construction, I used to work the mall at a pizza place, I worked there for 2yrs and a half and didn’t know what I wanted to do all of the businesses I tried….failed. My dad was already doing construction. I got home one day and my dad told me that an opportunity had opened up at his job place and that he wanted me to try so I gave it a shot, this was back in 2022 and I started out as a helper. The services KC Global offers is metal framing, acoustical, hardware and door install, tape and float. There is a lot of things I am proud of, one of them are my workers, and they are also the reason that sets me apart from others. My workers are the main reason of why KC Global operates with speed and quality, I am beyond thankful for them because of their professionalism and the way they perform. The main things I want my clients to know is that we are trying all the time to give you the best service possible and that we are here for whatever you need us.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My dad and my workers, no doubt, my dad is well known in the industry we are so he does know a lot of people, other than the fact that he is a very smart man and knows a lot of ways and solutions to get the job done. And my workers are the reason the job gets done quickly and good, they are very smart and know a lot, they have also been in the industry for years, and they are the most hardworking man I’ve ever seen.
