Robin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

The idea came directly from my experience running my cleaning company, Heaven Scent Home Cleaning, for more than 30 years. One of the biggest challenges in service businesses is the quoting process. We often spend hours driving to homes just to look at a job and give an estimate. It takes time away from actually serving customers and growing the business.

I started asking myself why service professionals couldn’t simply see the space through a customer’s phone and quote the job remotely. Business is mobile, so quoting should be too. That idea led me to create Virtual Bid®, which allows service professionals to send an invite, walk through a space with a customer over live video, and provide a quote without the need for an in-person visit.

As the platform evolved, I also built CleanQuote™ to help service professionals track their bids, conversions, and revenue in one place. The goal has always been simple: give service professionals modern tools that actually match the way we work.

Robin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’ve spent more than 30 years in the residential cleaning industry as the owner of Heaven Scent Home Cleaning.

Through that experience, I saw how inefficient the quoting process can be—service professionals often spend hours driving to homes just to provide an estimate.

That challenge led me to create Virtual Bid®, a platform that allows service professionals to connect with customers through live video walkthroughs and quote jobs remotely. I also developed CleanQuote™, a dashboard that helps professionals provide live walkthroughs and track bids, conversions, and revenue.

What sets my work apart is that these tools were created by someone who works in the industry every day. My goal is to give service professionals modern tools that save time, improve efficiency, and help them grow stronger businesses.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

One of the biggest lessons in my journey has been resilience as a non-technical founder building a technology platform. Coming from the cleaning industry, I understood the problem I was trying to solve, but building software required learning an entirely new world of product development, design, and engineering.

There were moments when things didn’t move as quickly as I hoped or when I had to rethink how the product should work to better serve users. Instead of giving up, I kept learning, testing, and improving the platform based on real feedback from service professionals.

That persistence has shaped Virtual Bid® and CleanQuote™ into tools designed to truly support the service industry. My experience taught me that resilience isn’t about avoiding challenges it’s about staying committed to your vision and continuing to move forward.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

One of the biggest pivots in my journey came when building my technology platform. As a non-technical founder coming from the cleaning industry, I initially approached the product one way, but through testing and real user feedback I realized the experience needed to be simpler for service professionals to adopt.

That realization led me to rethink the workflow and focus on what matters most to users: quickly connecting with customers and quoting jobs. We redesigned the experience so the first action is simply sending an invite and starting a walkthrough.

That pivot reinforced an important lesson for me as an entrepreneur: your original idea may evolve but staying close to the people you’re building for will always guide you in the right direction.
