We were lucky to catch up with Setara Monzon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Setara , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I started just by making things for myself, I never intended to start a business out of it. In 2011 I was beginning to make jewelry that was totally unique. I was also very inspired by different ways jewelry is worn that is out of the ordinary like body chains, hand chains and head chains. The excitement of creating those pieces led me to create so many designs, I was encouraged by others to try selling them. It never crossed my mind to put my myself out there like that. After months and months of constantly creating and opening an online shop I finally launched Setara Jewelry. I was stunned to say the least when I started getting buyers all over the country and eventually international sales. Then I started doing markets, pop ups and private parties where I learned more about brand and presence and later created sip and shops from my home as a way to promote my business and connect with like minded women wanting to share their creations and products. My favorite thing about my jewelry business is having the idea and inspiration and making it come to life. Gathering a team to work on things like photo shoots for my brand have been the highlight of my collections.

Setara , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into it by kind of jumping in online and through parties with friends and family who were big supporters since the beginning. They really inspired me to keep putting my works out there. I’m most proud that although my jewelry style has changed through the years my authenticity and love for creating has not.
Along with my 14k gold jewelry collections I also offer crystals for sale and permanent jewelry. I’m also an abstract glam artist inspired by natures beauty.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
It’s a mix of social media, pop ups and word of mouth. I love that feeling when a friend recommends me to a friend.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think my whole journey shows my resilience. There are times juggling all of the jobs for the business and creating while living everyday life can be tiring and can make it hard to see the bigger picture. I am resilient because no matter what life throws at me I will be sure to create.
