We were lucky to catch up with Vanessa Delacruz recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, thanks for joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?

As a Local Artisan I believe appreciation is shown with respect and staying connected to customer’s personal feedback. One of the best things I’ve created was when a customer expressed her frustration with how she struggled finding products to effectively moisturize and relieve her sensitive skin. Sharing new products that they could benefit from or possibly find relief feels great! Understanding a customer’s experience reminded me that small gestures can heal and connect us. Feeling valued is how I want my customers to leave feeling!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m a natural artisan who creates micro-batch, local Austin, Texas honey-infused lip elixirs made with simple, thoughtful whole food-based ingredients. My journey into this work really began during a period of my life when I was a stay-at-home mom. During that time, I became more mindful about the products I used and the ingredients that came into my home. That curiosity sparked my interest in natural formulations and eventually inspired me to begin experimenting with micro-batch lip care of my own.

What started as a creative outlet slowly grew into something much more meaningful. I became fascinated with the properties of natural ingredients—especially honey, which has long been valued for its elixir and moisturizing qualities. Developing honey-infused lip elixirs allowed me to combine creativity with care while focusing on ingredients that are both gentle and effective for everyone.

Today I craft my naturally tinted & clear lip products in micro-batches so I can maintain quality, freshness, and attention to detail. Each elixir is created with intention, allowing me to focus on the balance of texture, hydration, and the overall experience of using the product.

At the same time, I’m currently pursuing a college degree in engineering, which has deepened my interest in the science behind formulations and ingredients. That perspective allows me to approach my work with both creativity and curiosity about how ingredients interact and perform.

What sets my brand apart is this natural blend of artisan craftsmanship, ingredients from nature, and thoughtful clean formulation. I want customers to feel like they’re using something beautifully created rather than mass produced.

What I’m most proud of is building something slow, authentic and beautifully “my own” from such personal beginnings. From being inspired during my time as a stay-at-home mom to continuing my education in engineering, this journey reflects my belief that natural beauty can be both simple and beautifully crafted.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

My journey really began during my time as a stay-at-home mom, experimenting with natural ingredients in small batches with my boys along my side. Building a brand while raising a family and later pursuing engineering studies has required patience, adaptability, and persistence. The experience has taught me that resilience often comes from continuing to move forward—even in small steps—while staying connected to the passion that started it all.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I believe one of the biggest factors in building my reputation has been integrity. From the beginning, I’ve been committed to being honest about my ingredients, my process, and the way my products are made. Because I create micro-batch, honey-infused lip elixirs, I want customers to know exactly what they’re using and to feel confident that each product is crafted with care.

I also focus on consistency and quality. Working in small batches allows me to pay close attention to every detail and ensure that the products I offer truly reflect the standards I believe in. In the natural beauty space, trust is incredibly important, and I never take that lightly.

Over time, I think customers recognize when a brand is genuine. By staying true to my values, maintaining transparency, and putting real care into every batch I create, I’ve been able to build relationships with customers who appreciate that level of authenticity.
