We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kwesi Millington. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kwesi below.
Hi Kwesi, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
I was a police officer and a major incident ended my career. I thought I’d be a police officer for 25 years. The lesson is that you have to stay open to change.

Kwesi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I used to be a police officer and was involved in a major incident that ended my career. Speaking about it is how I got into professional speaking. I now deliver keynote speeches and workshops on mental health and resilience. I help leaders overcome adversity and build strength to deal with the professional and personal stresses of life.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients has been referrals from people who have seen me speak or friends who are also speakers. However, it is still about doing my own reach outs consistently.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn expecting things from people. I have now learned that expectations ruin relationships, so I don’t hold anyone to any preconceived expected standard of behavior.
