Alright, Crystal thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Often outsiders look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight. Even media and especially movies love to gloss over nitty, gritty details that went into that middle phase of your business – after you started but before you got to where you are today. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. Can you talk to us about your scaling up story – what are some of the nitty, gritty details folks should know about?

Success doesn’t always happen overnight. For me, it took years of dedication, hard work & a lot of marketing. In the beginning, I was working a full-time job while taking clients before & after work in our home. I dedicated hours daily to posting makeup content. I’d like to say social media was what helped me grow tremendously but it was also with the help of my clients. I’ve been a consistent artist for a very long time & with consistency comes growth. I have several clients who have been a part of this journey with me throughout the years. They refer me to others all the time. In an era where social media dominates word of mouth still makes an Impact. Knowing you have a loyal & dedicated service provider is important because they know they can always count on me. I love what I do & when you love what you do you always show up.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I’m a Central Florida Makeup Artist & Travel Artist. I have a Studio Located in Deland, FL. I provide makeup services for everyday clients , Weddings, Maternity Makeup, Prom makeup, Photoshoots & more. I also specialize in creative Makeup (such as Halloween Glams). I’m huge on content so every year in October I creative videos where I turn myself into different characters. My supporters & clients love it. The support is what keeps me going. I specialize in all skin tones and skin types. I believe makeup is about tailoring the look to the client. Everyone is different & has their own unique style. I always ask questions while also educating the client as much as possible. I’m most proud of how far I have come & how long my clients have stuck with me. It means more than they will ever know.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I started building my social media platform back in 2017. I have always taken marketing & social media serious. I’m well known for my content whether it be Makeup, foodie videos or just everyday life stuff. We’re living in times where content is key & online marketing is important. If you want to get your name out there build a platform & go hard. The goal is to stay relevant & to stay relevant you have to be consistent.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

This was definitely a side hustle that turned into something I would have never imagined. I began doing makeup at my vanity in my bedroom. Not a clue of what I was doing but one thing I did know is that art has always been apart of my life. I picked up on it quick & I was darn good. While working a full-time job, I took a part-time gig at MAC Cosmetics & that’s where my artistry & product knowledge began to elevate.

I started off traveling to clients here or there. At first the clients came by Word of mouth & friends in the industry that referred clients to me. When I created my social media platforms that’s when I began to grow even more.

We moved to a small town in 2016 & when you’re in a small town word of mouth spreads like wildfire. I became the go to in town for Makeup & till this day everyone knows they can count on Skyy. After my clientele picked up from here or there to weekly clients I knew it was time to grow. I went from the corner in my dining room to the Suite my partner found for me. I show up for my clients no matter the day or time because without them none of this would be possible.
