Hi Laura , thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Laura’s Kids Spa started out as a side hustle for income on the weekends. What made me execute is the business grow faster than I expected. We was booked every weekend. I had an idea for something little girls can do for their birthday and I wanted to be apart of their smile. All of my nieces are my inspiration for Laura’s kids spa. 2014 my business started mobile from my personal car, 2020 my business went brick and mortar with vans and buses, now 11 years later 2026 my business has new location in olive branch Mississippi and now serving 3 states Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. I had to figure out in my business that it’s not about me anymore it’s about accommodating every parent and daughter who experiences the Laura’s kids spa experience
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the kids spa industry in 2014 looking for something to do for all of my nieces to fulfill my auntie duties. The service we provide is kids spa parties , birthday parties, sleepovers parties, paint parties and kids friendly parties bus mobile and onsite. The most proud of is my team. They are all teenagers and I get to nurturing them into business minded individuals.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I have to unlearn that I can’t do business by myself and I must have a team that represents my vision and personality.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started paying attention to my back office and numbers in my business. I stop accepting cash and start running everything through my payment processor and now my business gets capitalized off my income I bring in monthly.
