We were lucky to catch up with Cori Berg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cori, thanks for joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
One of our very first customers was Andrea Buehler, a local Mary Kay sales representative. From the moment she walked in, her beautiful smile and bubbly personality completely blew us away. Since then, she has been one of our biggest advocates and encouragers, continually sending friends and family our way and supporting everything we do. Every time she walks through the door, we know it’s going to be a great experience.

Cori, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Sunshine Eco-Finds began as a simple dream shared between a mother (Sue) and daughter (Cori): to give pre-loved items a second chance and make sustainable shopping accessible to everyone. In 2022, that dream took root inside Moonberry Mercantile, where a small but thoughtfully curated collection first found its home.
As the community embraced the mission, Sunshine Eco-Finds grew. Today, the boutique spans over 2,000 square feet just a quarter mile from downtown Tarpon Springs—filled with carefully chosen pieces waiting to be loved again.
At Sunshine Eco-Finds, every item tells a story. By offering quality, affordable finds, we help shoppers feel good about what they wear and buy, all while reducing textile waste and supporting a more sustainable future.
We believe shopping small makes a big difference!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
In August 2025, we moved just three doors down from our original location. If you’ve seen our store, you know the move was no small feat — we have now invested in knocking down two cement block walls to expand our space, and then had to build one back up for the move. Our new spot had been a lamp shop for more than 20 years, so it required significant work to transform it into a boutique-friendly space.
The move has been instrumental for our growth. Being located along a sidewalk on a much busier street has brought incredible visibility. We intentionally designed our signage to say “Resale Boutique” rather than focusing solely on our name, so passersby instantly know what we offer.
It truly proves the saying “location, location, location.” We even have people knocking on the doors on days we’re closed!

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My mom, Sue, is a retired engineer, and I’m a registered nurse. We’re both people who like to stay busy — and we both love to shop. Over time, friends would often say things like, “If you’re out thrifting and find XYZ, can you grab it for me? I’ll buy it from you.” We realized we truly loved finding special gems that others could enjoy.
What started as a fun hobby turned into selling on Poshmark, giving beautiful items a second life. As it grew, we began talking more seriously about opening a business of our own. Then one day, while out on a walk, we noticed an empty storefront for rent and thought, that would be a great location. We called the landlord, took the leap, and got our start there. Less than a year later, we expanded by knocking down the wall into the neighboring space.
At the heart of it all is a simple belief: there is so much beauty out there that doesn’t need to end up in a landfill.
